A United States Marine Corps Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey from Quantico has been practicing maneuvers in the skies over Louisa County for the past two days.

A number of Louisa residents are curious about the unusual appearing helicopter that has been flying overhead in the county for the past two days.

According to a source at the Louisa County Airport, the aircraft is a United State Marine Corps Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey from Quantico that is performing practice maneuvers.

The Osprey is an American multi-mission, military, tiltrotor aircraft with both a vertical and short takeoff and landing capabilities.

According to the USMC website, the aircraft is designed to combine the functionality of a conventional helicopter with the long-range, high-speed cruise performance of a turboprop aircraft.

The USMC media relations department in Quantico was contacted this afternoon to learn more, but there has been no response yet.
