“Super Bowl Sunday is one of America’s most watched sporting events. You don’t have to have alcohol to have a good time,” said Town of Louisa Police Chief Jessie L. Shupe, chairman of Louisa County Transportation Safety Commission. “Kick off Super Bowl Sunday by making it a safe and sober Super Bowl.”
In 2013, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration press release, Louisa County had nine fatalities. Two involved motorcycles and seven were vehicles. Six of those were not wearing seat belts.
Whether attending the game, watching at a bar or hosting a party, Virginia State Police, Town of Louisa Police Department and Louisa County Sheriff’s Office want to remind everyone to buckle up and don’t drive drunk.
Before choosing to drink, choose your team’s most valuable player – a sober designated driver. If you don’t have a designated driver, call a cab, family member or sober friend to come get you.
Don’t become a statistic this Super Bowl by drinking and driving.
