Saturday, March 1

Shady Grove Baptist Church will celebrate Black History Month with the production of “Evolution of a Black Girl” at 2 p.m. Tickets are a $10 donation. Mt. Hope Baptist Church will observe an ordination service for the Rev. Walter Barrett at 1 p.m. The church is located at 5501 Paynes Mill Rd., Bumpass.

 

Sunday, March 2

St. Mark Baptist Church will observe its annual Deacons, Deaconess and Trustees day at 3 p.m. The Rev. Stevie Trent Sr., pastor of Second Union Baptist Church of Goochland, will be the guest preacher. His choir, ushers, and congregation will accompany him. The church is located at 4596 Factory Mill Rd., Maidens.

 

The Rising Sun Baptist Church Men’s Chorus will celebrate its anniversary at 3 p.m. Scheduled to appear are the T.A. Lacy Gospel Choir of Dinwiddie, the Baptist Union Baptist Church Men’s Chorus of Buckingham, the Soul seekers of Mechanicsville; the Little River Baptist Church Choir of Mineral, the great-grandchildren of the late Deacon Eugene Shelton and the Christian Gentlemen of Fluvanna. The church is located at 6829 Fredericks Hall Rd., Mineral.

Louisa United Methodist Church will hold a pancake breakfast in preparation for the beginning of Lent. Breakfast will begin at 8:45 a.m. followed by Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. and then worship at 10:30 a.m. Special music will be rendered by University of Mary Washington singer, Tonya Clowes. The church is located at 100 W. Main st., Louisa.

 

First Baptist Church will sponsor its annual Women’s Day celebration at 10:45 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Messages will be centered around the theme “Women of Integrity Serving God with Excellence.” Minister Sheila Battle, of Chesterfield, will bring the morning message with the Mary Gordon West Inspirational Choir rendering the music.  The guest preacher for the afternoon service will be the Rev. Diane Mosby, pastor of Anointed New Life Baptist Church, of Richmond. She will be accompanied by her choir and congregation. Dinner will be served between the two services and all ladies are asked to wear green and white. The church is located at 102 Meadow Ave., Louisa.

 

Wednesday, March 5

St. Mark Baptist Church will be host a joint Ash Wednesday service with Shady Grove Baptist Church at St. Mark Baptist Church, 4596 Factory Mill Road, Maidens. The program will begin at 7 p.m. with Pastor Reginald Cleveland of Shady Grove Baptist Church as the guest preacher. He will be accompanied by his choir, ushers and congregants.

 

Church of the Incarnation will begin Lent with an Ash Wednesday service at 7 p.m. The church is located 102 Louisa Ave., Mineral, across from the Mineral Farmers’ Market.

 

Friday, March 7

Mineral Baptist Church will host a women’s conference “Women of Courage” featuring Cynthia Murray from 6 until 10 p.m. Murray is a motivational speaker and author on leadership skills. She is the CEO/founder of Cynthia Murray Enterprises. Childcare will be provided, doorprizes awarded. The church is located at 51 Louisa, Ave., Mineral. For more information, call (540) 894-4234.

 

Saturday, March 8

Bright Hope Baptist Church will host the third anniversary of the Christos Dance Ministry at 3 p.m. followed by a repast service.  The Rev. Ricky White, of Union Run Baptist Church, Keswick, will be the guest speaker. The church is located at 9833 Poindexter Rd., Louisa.

 

Sunday, March 9

Canaan Soul Saving Station Church will observe its Missionary Day at 4 p.m. with guest speaker the Rev. Peggy Brice of Blue Run Baptist Church.  The church is located at 6580 Venable Rd., Kents Store.

 

Wayland Baptist Church will welcome the Rev. Leroy Mashore, associate pastor of Bright Hope Baptist Church, Louisa, as guest speaker for the 11 a.m. worship service.  The church is located at 1228 Oakland Rd., Louisa.

 

The Usher Board of Bright Hope Baptist Church will celebrate Usher’s Day at 3 p.m. The Rev. James Brown, of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, Rochelle, will be the guest preacher. A repast will follow the program. The church is located at 9833 Poindexter Rd., Louisa.

 

Laurel Hill Baptist Church will celebrate its annual Missionary Day  at 3 p.m. with guest speaker Elder Alice Christmas, First Bible Way Church, Louisa. She will be accompanied by her choir. The church is located at 7652 Kentucky Springs Rd., Mineral.

 

Wednesday, March 12

Church of the Incarnation will celebrate Lent by learning about Hunter in America and in particular, hunger in Louisa County, to come to some solutions. Services will be held each Wednesday through April 16 at 7 p.m. The church is located 102 Louisa Ave., Mineral, across from the Mineral Farmers’ Market.
