Mt. Garland Baptist Church will host the ordination service for the Rev. Dwain R. Cosby, pastor elect, at 4 p.m. The message will be delivered by the Rev. Sharon Hooker, Trinity Baptist Church, Richmond.  A reception will follow. The church is located at 4000 Buckner Rd., Bumpass.

 

Sunday, April 13

Louisa Christian Church will celebrate the Easter season beginning with a Palm Sunday worship service at 11 a.m. The church is located at 104 Elm Ave. (Rt. 208),  immediately behind the Courthouse in the Town of Louisa.

 

New Line Baptist Church’s Unity Choir will celebrate its 42nd anniversary at 3 p.m. Those scheduled to perform are Mt. Hope Celebration Choir, Tommy Mason and Friends and Tammy Scott. The church is located at 4876 New Line Rd., Gum Spring.

 

Wayland Baptist Church will welcome the Rev. Faye Cooper-Baldwin, of Quioccasin Baptist Church, Henrico, as guest speaker for 11 a.m. worship service.  The church is located at 1228 Oakland Rd., Louisa.

 

Philippi Christian Church will hold its annual Men’s Day Program at 3 p.m.  Music will be rendered by Philippi Men’s Chorus, Chris Lewis, The Shelton Brothers, Springfield Men’s Chorus, Zion Baptist Men’s Chorus, Christian Gentlemen of Glen Allen and Jerusalem Baptist Men’s Chorus. Church of the Incarnation will gather Palm Sunday at 10:30 a.m. on the front lawn, weather permitting, for the Liturgy of the Palms. The Louisa Ministerial Association will sponsor Stations of the Cross, a ceremony that examines the final hours of Jesus’ life, at Church of the Incarnation at 7 p.m. The church is located 102 Louisa Ave., Mineral, across from the Mineral Farmers’ Market.

 

Wednesday, April 16

Church of the Incarnation will celebrate Lent by learning about Hunger in America and in particular, hunger in Louisa County, to come to some solutions. The service will be held at 7 p.m. The church is located 102 Louisa Ave., Mineral, across from the Mineral Farmers’ Market.

Thursday, April 17

Kirk O’Cliff Presbyterian Church will observe a quiet service of holy communion at 7 p.m. followed by breakfast. The service will move through four traditional scriptures beginning with the Passover and culminating with the gathering of the disciples at the Last Supper which points toward the tragic events of Good Friday. Sunday school will begin at 9:45 a.m. and worship at 11:00 a.m. The church is located at 16420 Monrovia Rd., Mineral.

Church of the Incarnation will celebrate Maundy Thursday at 7 p.m. by looking at the last night Jesus had with his friends as he gave new meaning to the bread and wine of the meal. Friday, April 18

New Line Baptist Church will hold a Good Friday service at 7 p.m. featuring the Seven Sayings of Christ From the Cross. Participating will be Juanita Mickens of Shady Grove Baptist Church and Elaine Johnson, Shauanna Johnson, Trustee Robert Rucker, Deloros Kinney, Patricia Robinson and Rosetta Robinson, all of New ine Baptist Church. The church is located at 4876 New Line Rd., Gum Spring.

 

Foster Creek Baptist Church will present “The Seven Expressions of Christ From the Cross” at 7:30 p.m.  Several local ministers will deliver each expression. Music will be rendered by Chris Lewis and Family. The church is located at 4028 Jack Jouett Rd., Louisa.

 

Louisa Baptist Church will present the drama “The Room Upstairs” at 7 p.m. depicting the time when the twelve disciples were in the upper room with Jesus for the last supper.  During the intermission you will have the opportunity to taste foods that were potential present during that time period.  The church is located at 305 E. Main St., Louisa.

 

Gum Spring United Methodist Church will present Stations of the Cross from 6 until 7 p.m. Mentally relive the last days of Christ’s earthly life as you “walk the Via Dolorosa” in a self-paced, meditative experience through visual art. The church is located at 191 Cross County Rd., Gum Spring.

 

Church of the Incarnation will hold a dramatic reading of the John Passion on Good Friday and conclude with solemn collects and veneration of the cross. The church is located 102 Louisa Ave., Mineral, across from the Mineral Farmers’ Market.

 

Sunday, April 20

Louisa Christian Church will celebrate the Easter with two morning services. An outdoor Easter sunrise service will begin at 7 a.m. on the church grounds, and the regular Easter Sunday worship service will follow at 11 a.m. in the church sanctuary. The Rev. Denny Burnette will deliver the messages and Brock Weigel, youth director, will offer children’s sermons and activities. Susan Rigdon, church musician, will provide worship music and accompany the LCC choir. The church is located at 104 Elm Ave. (Rt. 208), immediately behind the courthouse in the town of Louisa.

 

Crossroads Community Church will worship Easter Sunday at 7 a.m. to celebrate and offer thanksgiving for the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Kirk O’Cliff Presbyterian Church will be greeted by a sunrise service at 7 a.m. at the gates of the Kirk cemetery followed by breakfast in the fellowship hall, adult Sunday school will be at 9:45 a.m. and morning worship at 11:00 a.m. The church is located at 16420 Monrovia Rd., Mineral.

 

Glenora Baptist Church will hold Easter Sunday services starting with Sunday school at 10 a.m. followed by worship service at 11 a.m. Childcare will be available. The church is located at 1389 Zachary Taylor Hwy., Mineral.

 

Galilee Baptist Church will celebrate Christ’s resurrection at 8 a.m. during its Easter service. The church is located at 3598 Three Notch Rd., Kents Store.

 

Gum Spring United Methodist Church will celebrate Easter with a sunrise service led by the youth from 7 until 8 a.m. followed by breakfast. Sunday school will be held at 9 a.m. and worship at 10 a.m. There will only be one worship service and there will be no afternoon or evening activities. Philippi Christian Church will hold an Easter sunrise service at 6 a.m. followed by breakfast. The Louisa County and Vicinity Ministers’ Conference will hold its fifth annual spring revival Monday, April 21 through Wednesday, April 23 at First Baptist Church, 102 Meadow Ave., Louisa. Prayer and praise will be held at 7 p.m. nightly followed by the worship service.
