Thursday, April 17

Kirk O’Cliff Presbyterian Church will observe a quiet service of holy communion at 7 p.m. followed by breakfast. The service will move through four traditional scriptures beginning with the Passover and culminating with the gathering of the disciples at the Last Supper which points toward the tragic events of Good Friday. Sunday school will begin at 9:45 a.m. and worship at 11:00 a.m. The church is located at 16420 Monrovia Rd., Mineral.

 

Louisa Christian Church will celebrate Maundy Thursday with a 7 p.m. service. The church is located at 104 Elm Ave. (Rt. 208), immediately behind the courthouse in the town of Louisa.

 

Mechanicsville Baptist Church will observe Maundy Thursday with communion and Tennebrae service at 7 p.m. The church is located at 10200 Louisa Rd., Louisa. For more information, call the church at (540) 832 3269.

 

Church of the Incarnation will celebrate Maundy Thursday at 7 p.m. by looking at the last night Jesus had with his friends as he gave new meaning to the bread and wine of the meal. The service will conclude with the stripping of the altar in preparation of Good Friday. The church is located 102 Louisa Ave., Mineral, across from the Mineral Farmers’ Market.

Louisa United Methodist Church will hold a Maunday Thursday service at 7 p.m. with a celebration of holy communion and a dramatization of the Last Supper. The church is located at 100 E. Main St., Louisa.

 

Friday, April 18

New Line Baptist Church will hold a Good Friday service at 7 p.m. featuring the Seven Sayings of Christ From the Cross. Participating will be Juanita Mickens of Shady Grove Baptist Church and Elaine Johnson, Shauanna Johnson, Trustee Robert Rucker, Deloros Kinney, Patricia Robinson and Rosetta Robinson, all of New ine Baptist Church. The church is located at 4876 New Line Rd., Gum Spring.

 

Foster Creek Baptist Church will present “The Seven Expressions of Christ From the Cross” at 7:30 p.m.  Several local ministers will deliver each expression. Music will be rendered by Chris Lewis and Family. The church is located at 4028 Jack Jouett Rd., Louisa.

 

Louisa Baptist Church will present the drama “The Room Upstairs” at 7 p.m. depicting the time when the twelve disciples were in the upper room with Jesus for the last supper.  During the intermission you will have the opportunity to taste foods that were potential present during that time period.  The church is located at 305 E. Main St., Louisa.

 

Gum Spring United Methodist Church will present Stations of the Cross from 6 until 7 p.m. Mentally relive the last days of Christ’s earthly life as you “walk the Via Dolorosa” in a self-paced, meditative experience through visual art. The church is located at 191 Cross County Rd., Gum Spring.

Church of the Incarnation will hold a dramatic reading of the John Passion on Good Friday and conclude with solemn collects and veneration of the cross. The church is located 102 Louisa Ave., Mineral, across from the Mineral Farmers’ Market.

 

Thessalonia Baptist Church will present the Seven Last Expressions of Jesus Christ at 7:30 p.m.  The speakers will include Deacon Nelson Jones, the Rev. Shirley Waddy, the Rev. Maria Lewis, the Rev. Lisa Thompson, Trustee William Holmes, Deacon Charles Reid and the Rev. Rudy Brooks.  The Fortune Family will render the music. The church is located at 278 Old County Rd., Mineral.

Blue Ridge Shores Baptist Church will hold Good Friday service at 6 p.m. The church is located at 1230 Firehouse Dr., the back entrance of Blue Ridge Shores.

Louisa United Methodist Church will hold a Good Friday Tenebrae service at 7 p.m. presenting the cantata “Shadows of Sacrifice” narrated by Becca and Charlotte Brehmer and guest pianist, Seth Gaultney. A nursery will be provided. The church is located at 100 E. Main St., Louisa.

 

Mineral Baptist Church will hold a Good Friday service at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary. The church is located at 51 Louisa Ave., Mineral.

 

Saturday, April 19

Louisa United Methodist Church will hold a mini Easter Vacation Bible School from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided. Contact the church at (540) 967-2657 to register. The church is located at 100 E. Main St., Louisa.

 

Sunday, April 20

Louisa Christian Church will celebrate the Easter with two morning services. An outdoor Easter sunrise service will begin at 7 a.m. on the church grounds, and the regular Easter Sunday worship service will follow at 11 a.m. in the church sanctuary. The Rev. Denny Burnette will deliver the messages and Brock Weigel, youth director, will offer children’s sermons and activities. Susan Rigdon, church musician, will provide worship music and accompany the LCC choir. The church is located at 104 Elm Ave. (Rt. 208), immediately behind the courthouse in the town of Louisa.

Crossroads Community Church will worship Easter Sunday at 7 a.m. to celebrate and offer thanksgiving for the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Philippi Christian Church will hold an Easter sunrise service at 6 a.m. followed by breakfast. Holly Grove Christian Church will hold an Easter sunrise service at 7:30 a.m. outside near the old rugged cross, weather permitting, with a breakfast to follow in the fellowship hall. There will be an Easter egg hunt for the children at 8:30 a.m. on the church lawn, Sunday school will be at 9:00 a.m. and the Worship service will be at 10:00 a.m.  The church is located at 1637 Holly Grove Dr., Bumpass.

 

Blue Ridge Shores Baptist Church will hold a Son-rise service at 7 p.m. at the main beach pavilion followed by a continental breakfast at 7:30 p.m. The Easter morning worship will be held at 9 a.m. The Church is located at 1230 Firehouse Dr., the back entrance of Blue Ridge Shores.

 

Mt. Gilliam Baptist Church (Old Site) will celebrate Family and Friends Day. Sunday school will begin at 9:30 a.m. followed by worship service at 11 a.m. Pastor Donald King Sr. will deliver the preached word.  The afternoon service will begin at 3 p.m. the special guest will be Rev. Wayland Baptist Church will host the combined Easter Sunday services at 8 a.m.  The Rev Louis Collins, pastor of New Site Baptist Church, Louisa, will be the speaker for the occasion. The church is located at 1228 Oakland Rd., Louisa.

 

Mt. Garland Baptist Church will celebrate Easter with sunrise services at 7 a.m. with Pastor Elect the Rev. Dwain R. Cosby. Breakfast will be served immediately following the service. The church is located at 4000 Buckner Rd., Bumpass.

 

Eagle Baptist Church will hold a sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. followed by breakfast. The church is located at 4682 Mt. Airy Rd., Louisa.

 

Louisa United Methodist Church will hold an Easter sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. followed by breakfast. Morning worship will be held at 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. and Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. You may bring flowers to decorate the cross in front of the church. The church is located at 100 E. First Baptist Church will hold a resurrection day service at 10:45 a.m. with Pastor Bruce Jones bringing the message and the mass choir rendering the music. Monday, April 21

The Louisa County and Vicinity Ministers’ Conference will hold its fifth annual spring revival Monday, April 21 through Wednesday, April 23 at First Baptist Church, 102 Meadow Ave., Louisa. Prayer and praise will be held at 7 p.m. nightly followed by the worship service. Guest preachers will include Dr. Angelo Chatmon, Pilgrim Journey Baptist Church, on Monday, music by Watchtower Baptist Church Choir; the Rev. Alvin L. Mechanicsville Baptist Church will host the women’s conference “A Heart for Worship,” with guest speaker Sharon Sands, of Passionate Heart Ministries on Friday, April 25 from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 26 from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.  The cost for the conference is $25 and includes a snack Friday night, a continental breakfast and lunch on Saturday.
