Louisa sophomore earns All-District honors for second straight year

When you talk to Louisa’s sophomore standout Jake Talley, you almost feel like you’re talking to a psychic. It’s all about the future.

Talley discusses what he wants to accomplish next year. He ruminates about what college he wants to attend. He mentions how he wants to make the all-region team as a junior.

Talley doesn’t just seem to forget yesterdays, it’s as if he’s forgotten the present day altogether.

But regardless of his choice of viewpoint, one fact is clear in the current day: Talley is one of the best players to come through the Jefferson District in quite a while. Last season, as the only freshman on the Louisa team, Talley was named second team All-District as an outfielder. This year, he one-upped himself at an entirely different position, earning first team All-Jefferson honors as an infielder when the list was announced on Thursday, May 22.

Just a sophomore, Talley is having a huge impact on a 12-7 Louisa team that already wasn’t short on leadership by boasting six seniors.

“It helps. We don’t have to rely on the seniors as much,” senior Thomas Dunnavant said. “Guys like him help carry the team when you’re having a bad game. He’s there to help us out.”

“I think so far I’ve done pretty well trying to keep everyone in the game, while also keep myself in the game too,” Talley said. “I’m trying to keep everything together and moving forward.”
