Cavalier Aviation Maintenance, located at the Louisa County Airport/Freeman Field, handles all types of mechanical issues and inspections for a wide variety of aircraft including the Cessnas.

Greg Armstrong, owner and operator, opened the business in April and already has a hangar full of planes in need of either repairs or inspections.

Armstrong, who has more than 20 years experience, began his career in aircraft maintenance in Alaska in 1992. There he obtained his air, freight and power plant certifications. In 1996, he obtained his inspection authorization.

He previously worked at Louisa County Airport for Dominion Air Charter in 1999, and later in 2007 for the Meridian Air Group.

Armstrong said his business will operate in a way the Federal Aviation Administration defines  as a non-certified maintenance organization.
