What is Independence Day without a few fireworks to celebrate the occasion? Louisa residents have two options this year to enjoy a fireworks show.
On Friday, Small Country Campground, located at 4400 Byrd Mill Road, will kick off the evening with sparklers for the kids at 8:30 p.m., followed by a fireworks display over Lake Ruth Ann beginning at about 9 p.m. The cost is $10 per carload.
During the show, the Zion Crossroads Volunteer Fire Department will be on duty and will set up a booth to collect donations to support the department.
On Saturday, July 5 the 19th annual Lake Anna Civics Association Fireworks Show will take place starting at about 9:15 p.m.
Produced and choreographed by Zambelli Fireworks, the show will last about half an hour and will feature a grand finale.
The free show can be viewed by boat or from Dike 2, which is located between Both Waters and Twin Lake Estates.
In the event of inclement weather, a rate date is scheduled for Saturday, July 12. A decision on whether the show will go on will be made on the morning of the show and will be posted on the LACA website by noon.
If a decision has been made to have the show and it rains, the display will take place after the rain stops and could take up to an hour to begin. However, if the rain has not ended by 11 p.m., the fireworks will be shot in the rain that same evening.
The show is made possible each year with donations from guests, residents and businesspersons in the community.
