Saturday, July 12

Philippi Christian Church will celebrate its heritage with a Black History celebration “We’ve Come This Far By Faith”  hosted by the Sunday school worshipers, at 3 p.m. The church is located at 7133 Jefferson Hwy., Mineral.

 

Ebenezer Baptist Church will hold its Family and Friends Day on Saturday, July 12 and Sunday, July 13. A cookout with fun and games will take place at the church on Saturday from 3 until 6 p.m. The Rev. Temple Anderson, pastor of Philippi Christian Church, Mineral, and his congregation will be the guests for Sunday morning service starting at 9:30 a.m. The church is located at 864 Pendleton Rd., Mineral.

 

Sunday, July 13

The George Murray Thompson Memorial Choir will celebrate its 34th anniversary at 3 p.m. at Shady Grove Baptist Church. Guest groups will include The Fantastic Goldenaires of Richmond and The Promise Keepers of Richmond. The church is located at 3384 Oakland Church Rd., Gum Spring. Gum Spring United Methodist Church will hold “Workshop of Wonders: Imagine and Build With God” Vacation Bible School Sunday, July 13 through Friday, July 18 from 6:30 until 9:00 p.m. with dinner served at 5:45 p.m. nightly. Explore and experience how the ordinary becomes extraordinary with God through music, Bible fun, super science, cool crafts, hands-on mission work, snacks and game. St. Mark Baptist Church will hold an ordination service for the Rev. Wayne J. Allen at 3 p.m. The Rev. E.  Richard Swan, pastor of Jerusalem Baptist Church, Doswell, will be the guest preacher.  His choir, ushers, and congregation will accompany him. Wayland Baptist Church will welcome the Rev. Sharon Williams, Mt Zion First African Baptist Church, Charlottesville, as guest speaker for 11 a.m. worship service.  The church is located at 1228 Oakland Rd., Louisa.

 

The young adults and youth of New Line Baptist Church will sponsor a gospel explosion at 3 p.m. All young adults and youth are asked to bring their talents including praise dancers and singers to perform. Mt. Hope Baptist Church will hold its Vacation Bible School, “The Jesus Connection…What a Friend” Monday, July 14 through Thursday, July 17. Classrooms for all age groups will include jazzercise, music, arts, crafts and outside activities. Dinner will be served at 6:00 p.m. nightly followed by devotions and class time. Louisa United Methodist Church and St. James Episcopal Church will offer a combined Vacation Bible School Monday, July 14 through Friday, July 18 from 5:30 until 8:00 p.m. starting with a light meal. This year’s theme, “Abundance Orchard, Where Faith Grows and Hungry People are Fed” is for children age four through sixth grade. Bible studies will include the topics of hospitality, trickery, obedience, miracles and hunger. The Louisa United Methodist Church is located at 100 E. Main st., Louisa.

 

Saturday, July 19

Sunday, July 20

Church Of The Incarnation in Mineral invites you to attend a new worship experience at 4 p.m. in the fellowship hall. This service is ecumenical in nature and especially designed for individuals and families with special needs. It will last between 30 and 40 minutes and includes music, a lesson and short teaching, prayers and an activity based on the lesson. This will be an interactive service allowing people to participate at whatever level they wish to. Revival services will begin at Canaan Soul Saving Station Church at 11:30 a.m. with Evangelist Arellia Hinton of Mt. Joy S.S.S. Church, Washington, D.C. Music will be rendered by The Christ Crusaders. The church is located at 6580 Venable Rd., Kents Store.

 

Zion United Methodist Church will hold Vacation Bible School, “Workshop of Wonders” Sunday, July 20 through Thursday July 24.  Each night begins with dinner at 5:30 p.m. and wraps up around 7:45 p.m.  Music, crafts, stories, games are scheduled for children ages 3 through 12. Temple of Deliverance, HCG will hold its Vacation Bible School Monday, July 21 through Friday, July 25 at 7 p.m. nightly. In the theme of Jungle Safari, kids will know what’s so great about God, explore the nature of God and serve God in practical ways. The church is located at 5756 Zachary Taylor Hwy., Mineral.

 

Bethpage Christian Church will hold Vacation Bible School, “Jungle Safari” Monday, July 21 through Friday, July 25 from 6:00 until 8:30 p.m. for ages 4 and older. VBS includes free food, games, music and Bible studies. If possible, bring a canned food item for the church’s community outreach project. Canaan Soul Saving Station Church will continue revival services Monday, July 21 through Friday, July 25 at 7:30 p.m. nightly with the Rev. Frederick Sales as guest speaker. Various choirs will render the music each evening. The church is located at 6580 Venable Rd., Kents Store.

 

Wednesday, July 23

Louisa Baptist Church will present the 2014 released movie “God’s Not Dead” in the worship center at 7 p.m. There is no admission cost. The movie is about Josh, a freshman college student, who enrolls in a philosophy class led by a hard-nosed atheist professor. He is all alone to defend the position that God is alive. If he loses the debate, he flunks the class. There are special appearances in the movie made by Willie and Korie Robertson of Duck Dynasty fame and the Newsboys. The church is located at 305 E. Main St., Louisa.
