Saturday, Aug. 2

Dogwood Baptist Church will hold its Vacation Bible School “Blast Off” on a mission of God’s love from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. This will be a fun day of learning to love others, crafting, singing, playing and just having fun. Lunch will be provided. The  church is located at 5677 New Line Rd., Gum Spring. Classes are scheduled  for children age 3 to 15.

 

Sunday, Aug. 3

Watchtower Baptist Church will be celebrate its Homecoming starting with the Rev. Edward Moody  leading the morning worship service followed by lunch at 1:30 p.m. The  3 p.m. service will be led by the Rev. Barry Carpenter of Laurel Hill Baptist Church. Revival services will be held on Monday, Aug. 4 through Wednesday, Aug. 6 with  prayer and praise beginning at 7 p.m. Music for the week will include Rising Sun Choir on Monday, St. Thomas Men’s Choir on Tuesday and The Spirit of Bumpass on Wednesday. The church is located at 375 Pottiesville R., Bumpass.

 

St. Thomas Baptist Church will hold worship services at 8 a.m. The church is located at 1567 Bumpass Rd., Bumpass.

 

Berea Baptist Church will celebrate Homecoming during its 11 a.m. worship service with guest speaker the Rev. Joe Price of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, followed by a fellowship luncheon. A singfest will be held after dinner with the country gospel group Just Us. Revival services will be held Monday, Aug. 4 through Wednesday, Aug. 6 at 7 p.m. nightly led by Rev. Price. The church is located at 5271 Poindexter Rd,. Trevilians.

 

St. John Baptist Church will celebrate Homecoming during the morning worship service followed by a fellowship luncheon. The afternoon service will be held at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Moore and Shady Grove Baptist Church. Revival services will be held Monday, Aug. 4 through Wednesday, Aug. 6 at 7:30 p.m. with the Rev. House and Ebenezer Baptist Church on Monday, the Rev. Comfort and Branch Fork Baptist Church on Tuesday and the Rev. Anderson and Phillipi Christian Church on Wednesday. The church is located at 5482 Zachary Taylor Hwy., Mineral.

 

First Baptist Church will hold a special worship service at 10:45 a.m. in the Louisa Town Park, 108 Meadow Ave., Louisa, with Pastor Jones bringing the message and the Inspirational Choir rendering the music.

 

Wayland Baptist Church will welcome the Rev. Leroy Mashore, associate pastor of Bright Hope Baptist Church, Louisa, as guest speaker for 11 a.m. worship service.  The church is located at 1228 Oakland Rd., Louisa.

 

Shady Grove Baptist Church will celebrate Homecoming during its 3 p.m. service with the Rev. Angelo Chatmon, Pilgrim Journey Baptist Church, Richmond. The morning service will be held at 11 a.m. followed by a fellowship luncheon. Revival will be held Monday, Aug. 4 through Thursday, Aug. 7 with prayer and praise at 7:30 p.m. followed by worship at 8:00 p.m. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Kevin L. Sykes, St. James Baptist Church, Varina. The church is located at 3384 Oakland Church Rd., Gum Spring.

 

Monday, Aug. 4

Emmanuel Baptist Church will hold its Vacation Bible School Monday, Aug. 4 through Friday, Aug. 8 from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. in the sanctuary. Participants will learn about Kids under Construction in the “Hard Hat Zone,” and the importance of doors in the Bible. Classes will be for children as young as K-4. Teenagers will have their own special study on being Open, Broken and Free. The church is located at 12204 Cross County Rd., Mineral, between Cuckoo and Apple Grove. Sunday, Aug. 10

South Anna Baptist Church will celebrate Homecoming during the 11 a.m. worship service followed by a fellowship luncheon. The guest speaker will be Bro. Clayton Custalow, ThM, pastor of New Hope Baptist Assembly, Tappahannock. Custalow and his wife, Karen, reside on the Mattaponi Indian Reservation, West Point. Bro. Custalow will also be the guest speaker for revival services Monday, Aug. 11 through Wednesday, Aug. 13 at 7 p.m. nightly. Music will be provided by various groups each night. The church is located at  9071 Cross County Rd., Mineral.

 

St. Thomas Baptist Church will hold its annual Homecoming at 11 a.m. with Pastor Sharon Roberts followed by lunch at 1 p.m. Afternoon services will begin at 2:30 p.m. with prayer followed with performance by Living Waters Fellowship, Louisa Praise Dancers and Choir. Pastor Patricia Dunn of Living Waters Fellowship, Louisa  will  deliver Homecoming message at 3:00 p.m. Revival services will be held Monday, Aug. 11 through Wednesday Aug. 13 with prayer and praise at 7:00 p.m. followed by worship at 7:30 p.m. Guest speakers will include Matthew Robinson, associate minister, New Line Baptist Church on Monday for “Youth Night;”  the Rev. William Mallory, Shiloh Baptist Church, Palmyra on Tuesday, for “Men’s Night;” and the Rev. Frances Lewis of Soul Saving Station, Louisa on Wednesday for “Women’s Night.” The church is located at 1567 Bumpass Rd., Bumpass.

 

Back to School Blessings will be held at 10 a.m. in a joint service with West Louisa Charge of the United Methodist Church and Ebenezer United Methodist Church for the blessing of the new school year. All students and school employees are invited. Students should bring their backpacks, school bags, etc. for the blessing. The service will be held at Ebenezer located at 3092 Oakland Rd., Louisa.

 

Mt. Hope Baptist Church will celebrate its annual Homecoming at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Monroe L. Smith delivering the morning message followed by lunch. The afternoon service will being with prayer and praise service at 2:30 p.m. and worship at 3:00 p.m.  The guest evangelist will be the Rev. Dr. Phillip E. Knight and the Rock Hill Baptist Church family of Mechanicsville. Revival services will be Monday, Aug. 11 through Wednesday, Aug. 13 with prayer and praise service nightly at 7:00 p.m. followed by worship.  The guest evangelist will be the Rev. Dr. A. Lincoln James, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, Richmond. Guest choirs will render music each night. The church is located at 5501 Paynes Mill Rd., Bumpass.

 

Mineral Baptist Church will celebrate Homecoming with one worship service at 11 a.m.   The message will be presented by Beyond the Ashes, a Dove award nominated gospel trio, who will also provide the music for the day.  A covered dish dinner will follow the service in the Family Life Center. The church is located at 51 Louisa Ave. Mineral.

 

Mt. Gilliam Baptist Church (Old Site) will celebrate Homecoming and Revival beginning with its 11 a.m. worship service led by Pastor Donald King Sr. followed by lunch.  The Rev. Todd Winston, pastor of Greenwood Baptist Church, Asland, will be the afternoon guest beginning at 3 p.m. He will be accompanied by his choir, ushers, and congregation.  The weekly revival evangelist will be the Rev. Dr. Larry Black, pastor of New Salem Zion Baptist Church, Pacolet, South Carolina. Music will be rendered by various choirs each night.  The church is located at 4641 Chalklevel Rd., Louisa.
