Ava Pippin has been elected chair of the Piedmont Virginia Community College Board. She is the first Louisa County resident to be selected as the PVCC Board chair in the college’s history. Pippin was appointed to the PVCC Board in 2008 by the Louisa County Board of Supervisors, served as vice-chair from 2013-2014 and now succeeds Laila Bare as the board’s leader. Sean J. Moynihan, representative to the PVCC Board from Albemarle County, was elected vice chair.

Pippin is the executive director of the Louisa Educational Foundation. She is a resident of Mineral and a life member and current treasurer of the Louisa Christian Church. She was a business education teacher at Louisa County High School for 33 years and an adjunct instructor of various business classes at PVCC from 1985 to 2004. She is also the past director and education chair of the Louisa County Chamber of Commerce.
