Saturday, Aug. 23

Temple of Deliverance, HCG will celebrate its combined choirs anniversary “With One Voice” honoring the adult choir, United Voices of Praise and the youth choir at 6 p.m. The church is located at 5756 Zachary Taylor Hwy., Mineral.

 

Sunday, Aug. 24

New Line Baptist Church will hold its Homecoming starting at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor J.R. Coney delivering the message, followed by lunch.  Prayer and praise will begin at 2:30 p.m., followed by worship at 3:00 p.m. Elder Dennis Jackson, Greater Refuge Outreach Church, Sandy Hook will be the guest speaker.  Music will be rendered by Tammy Scott and New Beginning. Revival will be held Monday, Aug. 25 through Friday, Aug. 29 with prayer and praise at 7:30 p.m. and worship at 8:00 p.m. Guest speakers, accompanied by choir and ushers, will include: the Rev. Paul Pace, Divine Baptist Church, Louisa, on Monday; the Rev. Bernie Newcomb, Central Virginia Assembly Of God, Mineral, on Tuesday; Minister Krissy A. Mason, Assoc. St. Thomas Baptist Church will hold worship service at 8 a.m. The church is located at 1567 Bumpass Rd., Bumpass.

 

Mt. Zion Baptist Church celebrate its annual Homecoming with acting pastor, the Rev. Larry Lewis, leading the 11:00 a.m. worship service Revival will begin with the afternoon service at 2:30 p.m. featuring Dr. John Kinney and the Ebenezer Baptist Church family of Beaverdam.  Dr. Kinney will be the evangelist for revival services Monday, Aug. 25 through Wednesday, Aug. 27 at 7:30 p.m. The church is located at 3909 Holly Grove Rd., Bumpass.

 

Mt. Garland Baptist Church will be celebrate Homecoming during its 11 a.m. service led by Pastor Dwain R. Cosby and music by the Combined Voices of Praise Inspirational Choir, followed by lunch.  The afternoon revival service will begin with prayer and praise at 2:30 p.m., followed by worship at 3:00 p.m. with guest speaker the Rev. Dr. Stephen Hewlett, pastor of Riverview Baptist Church, Richmond. He will be accompanied by his choir, ushers and congregation.  Revival will continue Monday, Aug. 25 through Wednesday, Aug. 27 with prayer and praise at 7:30 p.m., followed by worship at 8:00 p.m. The following guests are scheduled: the Rev. Sharon Hooker, Trinity Baptist Church, Richmond, on Monday; the Rev. Arthur Lee, Pastor, Rising Sun Baptist Church, Mineral, on Tuesday; the Rev. Dr. Earl L. Zion Travelers Baptist Church will celebrate Homecoming during its 11 a.m. service with the Rev., Austin Bates followed by the 3 p.m. worship service with the Rev. Rueben Lewis of Galilee Baptist Church. He will be accompanied by his choir, congregation and ushers. Lunch will be served between the two services. Rev. Bates will lead revival services Monday, Aug. 25 through Friday, Aug. 29 with prayer and praise at 7:30 p.m.. followed by worship at 8:00 p.m. Musical groups scheduled to perform include: Philippi Christian Church on Monday, Gailiee Baptist Church on Tuesday, Rising Sun Baptist Church on Wednesday; Laurel Hill Baptist Church on Thursday and Union Baptist Church Workshop Choir on Friday. Mechanicsvile Baptist Church will welcome Dr. Valerie Carter, executive director-treasurer of Virginia Baptist Woman’s Missionary Union, as guest speaker during the 11 a.m. worship service.  Dr. Carter served 10 years as director of the Hillside Baptist Center, Richmond; served five years as associate of Christian Social Ministries at WMUV; and 10 years as associate pastor for Glocal Ministries at the Bon Air Baptist Church, Richmond.  She earned a BA in sociology from Adelphi University, the Master of Divinity from Virginia Union University School of Theology, the Master of Science in sociology from Virginia Commonwealth University, and the Doctor of Ministry degree from Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond and currently serves as adjunct instructor of sociology at J. Sergeant Reynolds Community College. A native of Long Island, New York, she is the widow of the Rev. Hylan Carter Jr. and mother of two sons. The church is located at 10200 Louisa Rd., Gordonsville.

 

Peach Grove Baptist Church will celebrate its annual Homecoming at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Sherman Hudson delivering the message, followed by lunch. The guest preacher for the 3:00 p.m. service will be the Rev. Alvin Hill of Richmond. Revival will be held Monday, Aug. 25 through Thursday, Aug. 28 at 7:00 p.m. nightly. Guest preachers will include the Rev. Dr. Carl Bently, Wofford; the Rev. Dr. Larry Thompson, Mosely; the Rev. Sharon Rowell, Richmond; and the Rev. Dr. Earl L. Bledson, Richmond. Guest choirs will render music each night. The church is located at 93 Peach Grove Rd., Louisa.

 

Tuesday, Aug. 26

Gilboa Christian Church will hold a dedicated prayer service for Christians in the Middle East at 7 p.m. The church is located at 6780 Jefferson Hwy., Mineral.

 

Saturday, Aug. 30

St. Thomas Baptist Church will celebrate Smith/Trice Family day at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Gloria Trice Coles delivering the message, followed by a cookout. All Trice descendants are asked to wear pink and all Smith descendants are asked to wear blue. Dress is casual. The meeting of the Christian Fellowship Union at Laurel Hill Baptist Church has been rescheduled until Nov. 30. There will be no meeting on Aug. 31.

 

Evergreen Bible Way Church will host a special service for Robert “Jack” Ellis Jr. at 2 p.m. led by Elder Steven Mason. Due to Jack’s recent illness, he’s been unable  to work and the service is a way for people to show their love and support. Canaan Soul Saving Station Church will welcome Minister Tanya Richardson, Galilee Baptist Church, as guest speaker for the 11:30 a.m. worship service. Music will be rendered by The Christ Crusaders. The church is located at 6580 Venable Rd., Kents Store.
