The Louisa County Public School division is holding a closing ceremony to honor the Louisa County High School building, and to celebrate the many milestones since it opened in 1939. It will also be a time for the community to say goodbye to a building that is special and holds historical significance to many Louisa County residents.

The ceremony will be held on Tuesday, June 12 at 5 p.m. at the modular high school in building R, located next to the Louisa County High School building (757 Davis Highway, Mineral, VA 23117).

During the event guest speakers will recount the significant events that took place in the building, and attendees will also have an opportunity to write down their favorite memories which will be used later in the new school.

Attendees will be able to park in a lot that is located near building R at the modular high school. If you turn onto Bus Garage Road, which is located near the Louisa County Public Library (881 Davis Hwy.), you will see the lot on your left as you drive past the Louisa County Alternative Education building (brick facility). In addition, there is also a parking lot located next to the Alternative Education building that attendees can park in.

Demolition of the Louisa County High School building will take place in the next few months, and once the process is completed community members will have an opportunity to obtain a brick from the structure. More information will be released once the details are finalized. If you have questions, please call (540) 894-5115.
