Sunday, Aug. 12

Mt. Hermon Baptist Church will celebrate its 200th church anniversary and Homecoming services at 11:30 a.m. followed by a fellowship luncheon.  The church is located at Days Bridge Rd., Spotsylvania.

 

South Anna Baptist Church will hold Homecoming and Revival services Aug. 12 through Aug. 15.  Sunday services will begin at 11 a.m. with guest speaker Mike Nickle.  Nickle will lead Revival services at 7 p.m. nightly.  Music will be rendered each night by guest groups.  The church is located at 9071 Cross County Rd., Mineral.

 

St. Mark Baptist Church will hold its annual Homecoming and Revival services Sunday, Aug. 19 through Friday, Aug. 24. The morning message at 11 a.m. will be delivered by the pastor, the Rev. Gregory Washington. Sunday afternoon the Rev. Tyrone E. Nelson of Six Mount Zion Baptist Church, Richmond, will be delivering the homecoming message. He will continue as evangelist for revival Monday and Tuesday. The Rev. Kevin L. Sykes, pastor of St. James Baptist Church, Richmond, will be the evangelist the rest of the week. Dress code for the revival/nightly services is church casual wear. Prayer and praise will begin at 7:30 p.m., revival at 8:00 p.m. nightly.  The church is located at 4596 Factory Mill Rd., Maidens.

 

St. Thomas Baptist Church will celebrate Homecoming Sunday, Aug. 12 with the Rev. H. Tyrone Hilton delivering the Homecoming message at 3 p.m.  Revival will be held Monday, through Wednesday starting with prayer and praise at 7:30 p.m.  Guest speakers will include: Pastor Mark Brown on Monday, the Rev. Sherman Thomas on Tuesday, and Pastor Virginia Farmer on Wednesday.  The church is located at 1567 Bumpass Rd., Bumpass.

 

Mt. Hope Baptist Church will celebrate its annual Homecoming and Revival services on Sunday, August 12, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Monroe Smith delivering the morning message. The Rev. Lewis R. Yancey II and the Second Liberty Baptist Church will be the afternoon guests at 3:00 p.m.  Prayer and praise service will begin nightly at 7:30 p.m., worship service at 8:00 p.m.   The guests for the week will include the Rev. William House and Ebenezer Baptist Church family on Monday, the Rev. Ricardo Haynes and Mt. Zion Baptist Church family on Tuesday and the Rev. Alex Shelley and the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church family on Wednesday. The church is located at 5501 Paynes Mill Rd., Bumpass.

 

Wayland Baptist Church will celebrate its annual Homecoming on Sunday, Aug. 12 with Pastor Lewis bringing the morning message at 11 a.m followed by lunch at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Joseph Moore, choir and members of Shady Grove, Orange, will be the guests at 3 p.m. Pastor Bruce Jones of First Baptist Church, Louisa, will be the evangelist for the Revival Monday Aug. 13  through Friday, Aug. 17.  Prayer and praise will begin at 7:30 p.m. and worship at 8:00 p.m. nightly. Choirs and ushers for the week will include First Bibleway on Monday, Eagle Baptist on Tuesday, First Baptist on Wednesday, New Anna Baptist on Thrusday, all of Louisa and Blue Run Baptist of Gordonsville on Friday.  The church is located at 1228 Oakland Rd., Louisa.

 

Mt. Gilliam New Site Baptist Church will celebrate Homecoming at the 3 p.m. service with the Rev. Lloyd Cosby as guest minister and Zion Union Baptist Church, Charlottesville, as the guest church and choir.  Rev. Cosby will lead Revival services Monday, Aug. 13 through Friday, Aug. 17 at 7:30 p.m. nightly.  The church is located at 2212 Mansfield Rd., Mineral.

 

Mt. Gilliam Baptist Church will hold its annual Homecoming and Revival services Aug. 12 through Aug. 17.  The Rev. Roger Jones Sr. will bring the morning message followed by lunch.  The Rev. Robert Strothers will deliver the afternoon message and continue as evangelist for the Revival week.   Tuesday and Wednesday nights will be combined services with Mt. Gilliam New Site.  Prayer and Praise service will begin at 7:30 p.m. and worship at 8:00 p.m. The church is located at 4641 Chalklevel Rd., Louisa.

 

Wayland Baptist Church will celebrate Homecoming with the Rev. Frances Lewis bringing the 11:30 a.m. worship service followed by lunch from 1:00 until 2:30 p.m.  The Rev. Joseph Moore of Shady Grove Baptist Church, Orange, will lead the 3:00 p.m. service and will be accompanied by his choir.  Revival will be held Monday, Aug. 13 through Friday, Aug. 17 with the Rev. Bruce Jones, pastor of First Baptist Church, Louisa.  Devotions begin at 7:30 p.m., worship at 8:00 p.m.  Various area choirs will render the music.  The church is located at 1228 Oakland Rd., Louisa.

 

Mineral Baptist Church will hold Homecoming services with a combined worship service at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary.  John Bindel, renowned opera singer and church member, will provide the special music for the service.  A covered dish luncheon will follow in the Family Life Center. Sunday School will be held starting at 9:45 a.m., but there will be no early morning contemporary service. The church is located at 51 Louisa Ave., Mineral.

 

Foster Creek Baptist Church will hold its Homecoming and Revival services starting with Homecoming on Sunday, Aug 12 with Pastor Michael R. Crawley Jr. at 11:30 a.m. Dinner will be served afterwards. At 3 p.m., the special guest will be the Rev. Roscoe D. Cooper III, of Rising Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Richmond, who will be accompanied by his choir. Revival will be held Monday, Aug 13 through Friday, Aug. 17 at 8 p.m. nightly. The church is located at 4028 E. Jack Jouett Rd., Louisa.

 

Sunday, Aug. 19

Lasley United Methodist Church will celebrate its 233rd Homecoming during the 11 a.m. worship service with guest speakers followed by a pot luck  lunch. Bring a lawn chair and pictures or an article pertaining to the church to be included in the Past and Present Memory Book started on the 225th anniversary in 2005.  The church is located at 393 Lasley Rd., Louisa.

 

Union Baptist Church of Trevilians will hold Homecoming and Revival services Aug. 19 through Aug. 24.  Pastor Roger E. Braxton Sr. of Eagle Baptist Church and his church family will be the guests for the Sunday 3:00 p.m. service and will continue Monday through Wednesday.  Pastor John Reid of Little Zion Baptist Church, Orange, will be the guest for Thursday and Friday. Week night services will begin at 7:30 p.m.  Music will be rendered by choirs in the community each night.  The church is located at 1546 Vawter Coner Rd., Louisa.
