Sunday, Aug. 19

Lasley United Methodist Church will celebrate its 233rd Homecoming during the 11 a.m. worship service with guest speakers followed by a pot luck  lunch. Bring a lawn chair and pictures or an article pertaining to the church to be included in the Past and Present Memory Book started on the 225th anniversary in 2005.  The church is located at 393 Lasley Rd., Louisa.

 

Union Baptist Church of Trevilianswill hold Homecoming and Revival services Aug. 19 through Aug. 24.

Pastor Roger E. Braxton Sr. of Eagle Baptist Church and his church family will be the guests for the Sunday 3:00 p.m. service and will continue Monday through Wednesday.  Pastor John Reid of Little Zion Baptist Church, Orange, will be the guest for Thursday and Friday. Week night services will begin at 7:30 p.m.  Music will be rendered by choirs in the community each night.  The church is located at 1546 Vawter Coner Rd., Louisa.

 

Bishop Robert I. Winley of New York City will be the guest speaker at Canaan Soul Saving Station Church at 11:30 a.m.  Music will be rendered by The Christ Crusaders.  The church is located at 6580 Venable Rd., Kents Store.

 

Trinity Baptist Church, will celebrate Homecoming during its 11 a.m. service with guest speaker the Rev. Jim Ailor.  Ailor is a field strategist for the Virginia Baptist Mission Board and he and his wife, Lynne, live at Port Royal. In 1970, just before heading off to the Sanford University and their football team, Ailor met Christ in a dramatic encounter that transformed his life. Called to the ministry, he attended two seminaries earning a Master of Divinity. He managed “His Filling Station,” a coffee house ministry in Birmingham, and worked with teens in several churches before becoming a pastor. His churches have included an old traditional inner-city church, a new contemporary church, a small suburban church, a country church, and a fast-growing large church near DC. He has also served as a director of missions on Virginia’s Peninsula. He has a heart to see churches energized to reach the unchurched for Christ. Special music for Homecoming will be rendered by The Ice House Singers. The church’s pianist, Molly Seay, is a part of this group.  Lunch will be provided following the worship.  The church is located at 135 Mansfield Rd., Mineral.

 

Pleasant Plain Baptist Church will celebrate its annual Homecoming with Pastor Donald King leading the 11 a.m. worship service followed by lunch at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Wormly, choir and members of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Fredericksburg, will be the guests at 3 p.m. Revival will be held Monday, Aug. 20 through Wednesday, Aug. 22 at 7:30 p.m nightly. Guest speakers will include: Pastor Justin House, Evergreen Baptist Church, Fluvanna, on Monday; Pastor John Reed, Little Zion, Orange, on Tuesday; and Elder Donald Comfort, of Branch Fork Baptist Church, Spotsylvania, on Wednesday. The pastors will bring their choir and members with them. The church is located at 675 Lindsay Rd., Louisa.

 

First Baptist Church will observe its annual Homecoming celebration with Pastor Bruce Jones bringing the morning message at 11:00 a.m. and the senior choir rendering the music. Dinner will be served following the service.  The 3:30 p.m. service will feature Dr. Patricia Gould-Champ, Faith Community Baptist Church, Richmond, accompanied by her choir and ushers. Revival will be held Monday, Aug. 20 through Wednesday, Aug. 22 with prayer and praise at 7:30 p.m. and worship at 8:00 p.m. nightly. Serving as guest evangelist will be Bishop Michael V. Kelsey Sr., pastor of New Samaritan Baptist Church, Washington, DC.  Guest choirs will include the male chorus of Trinity Baptist Church, Richmond, on Monday; the Gospel Chorus of Bethany Baptist Church, Montpelier, on Tuesday; and the mass choir of New Light Baptist Church, Richmond, on Wednesday.  The church is located at 102 Meadow Ave., Louisa.

 

Laurel Hill Baptist Church will hold its annual Homecoming and Revival services Sunday, Aug. 19 through Friday, Aug. 24. Sunday morning service will begin at 11:15 a.m. with Pastor Barry Carpenter delivering the message. The afternoon service will begin at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Harrison Williams, pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church, Stanardsville, as guest speaker for this service and the week’s revival. The weekly service will begin at 7:30 p.m. Various guest choirs will render the music.The church is located at 7652 Kentucky Springs Road, Mineral. Bethany Christian Church (Bumpass) will offer the fourth installment of Financial Peace University by Dave Ramsey. Class begins Sept. 16 with a preview on Aug. 26 at 4 p.m. All classes will be held at Bethany Christian Church. Zion Travelers Baptist Church will celebrate its annual Homecoming and Revival services Aug. 26 through Aug.  31.  Pastor Bates will bring the morning service at 11:00 a.m. followed by lunch.  The afternoon service will begin with Prayer and Praise at 2:30 p.m. and the worship service at 3:00 p.m. with guest speaker the Rev. Phillip A. Carter, pastor of Union Baptist Church, Avon.  Rev. Carter will continue Revival throughout the week with the following guest choirs rendering the music: Union Baptist Church Choir on Sunday; New Horizon from Countyline Baptist Church on Monday; Christ Crusaders from Canaan Soul Saving Station on Tuesday; Eagle Baptist Church Choir on Wednesday; Ladies of Praise from Rising Sun Baptist Church on Thursday; and New Anna Baptist Church Choir on Friday.  Prayer and Praise service will begin nightly at 7:30 p.m. and worship service at 8:00 p.m.  The church is located at 3662 Roundabout Rd., Louisa.
