Sunday, Sept. 16

First Bible Way Church will hold its annual Homecoming Sunday, Sept. 16 and Revival Monday, Sept. 17 through Friday, Sept. 21. Pastor Robert A. Christmas will lead services at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday followed by dinner. Bishop John Gray, pastor, Bethel Restoration Center, Williamsburg, will lead the services at 3:00 p.m.  Revival services will continue Monday through Friday at 7:30 p.m. nightly with Bishop Lyle Dukes, pastor, Harvest Life Changers Church, Woodbridge, on Monday; Lynn Beanum Jr., pastor, Temple of Deliverance, Mineral, on Tuesday; Bishop Darnell Dixon Sr., pastor, Bible Way Temple, Raleigh, North Carolina, the remainder of the week. St. John Baptist Church will celebrate the 11th anniversary of its pastor, the Rev. Gerry Coleman.  Morning worship will begin at 11:30 a.m. with guest preacher the Rev. Ebenezer Baptist Church will host the A.L. Carter Singers’s 30th anniversary celebration at 3 p.m.  Guest musical groups will include Rising Sun Baptist Church Male Chorus, Evergreen Baptist Church Male Chorus of Fluvanna, Ebenezer Baptist Church Male Chorus of Mineral, Mr. and Mrs. Ruby Davis.  The church is located at 109 Ebenezer Rd., Mineral.


Forest Hill Baptist Church will celebrate its Homecoming at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Mike Nickle as guest speaker followed by lunch. Special music by Donnie Garner will follow the meal. Rev. Nickle will lead Revival services Monday, Sept. 18 through Wednesday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. Nickle is the native of Indiana who spent four years serving his country in the Navy, later graduating from the University of Florida. He heard the call to the ministry and became a full-time pastor at Good Hope Baptist Church for 15 years. Now retired, he leads worship service at Christopher Run Campground where he and his wife Dianne have ministered for 25 years. The couple also ministers to race car drivers. Friday, Sept. 21

Rising Sun Baptist Church will host a Women’s Ministry Retreat at 7 p.m.  Guest speakers will include Pastor Sharon Roberts, St. Thomas Baptist Church, Bumpass and the Rev. Dr. Deborah Sams, First Baptist Church, Richmond.  A BBQ-style dinner will be served from 5 until 7 p.m.  The church is located on Rt. 618, Mineral.


Saturday, Sept. 22

Wayland Baptist Church will celebrate its Friends and Family Day on Saturday, Sept. 22 starting at 10 a.m. with guest Pastor Washington, of The Bridge Ministry, Charlottesville, and Sunday, Sept. 23 starting at 11 a.m. with guest the Rev. Hilton of Union Baptist Church and his church family.  Food, family, fun and a car show. The church is located at 1228 Oakland Rd., Louisa.

Sunday, Sept. 23

Free Union Gospel Church will hold a gospel music service at 3 p.m. featuring Cheryl and Maggie Ingram who are part of the Family of Praise Community Choir. The church is located at 10378 Louisa Rd., Gordonsville.


Sharon Christian Church will celebrate its 125th anniversary and Homecoming at 11 a.m. The service’s topic will be “Generational Faith.” As a part of the celebration, the church will rededicate the gifts given the church over the years and honor the many families and individuals in whose honor they have been given. Special guest for the day will be the Rev. Lee Parker, regional minister of the Christian Churches (DOC) in Virginia. The morning service will be followed by a luncheon and discussion on Sharon’s history and a sharing of memories lead by Mabel Harris Nelson. The church is located at 852 Bumpass Road, Bumpass. Ruth Morris, associate minister of Shady Grove Baptist Church will be the guest preacher for the 2:30 p.m. service.  Music will be rendered by the Ebenezer Baptist Church Sanctuary Choir, Mineral.  The church is located at 1567 Bumpass Rd., Bumpass.
