Bumpass man re-elected to national board

William F. Martin of Bumpass, was re-elected to a two-year term on the National Executive Board of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association at its 32nd Biennial National Convention in Reno-Sparks, Nevada, August 26-30.

Delegates of the 275,000 member-strong organization determined NARFE’s direction for the next two years and set goals for the Association’s legislative program, including preserving the earned benefits of federal employees and retirees. Martin represents NARFE Region X, which includes Kentucky, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.

Martin has extensive NARFE experience, including serving as area vice-president, second vice-president, first vice-president and president of the Virginia Federation. He also held various positions, including president, of NARFE Louisa Chapter 2065.

An Air Force veteran, Martin also served with National Guard Units in Texas, California and Virginia. He began his federal career with the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier, moving to positions of increasing responsibility, including resource planning and administration officer with USPS Headquarters in Washington, D.C., and manager, Operating Services Branch, at the Management Academy in Potomac, Md. In 2001, he received the GEICO National Public Service Award-Federal Retiree. Martin is a graduate of Fullerton College.
