Louisa’s defensive backs could face their toughest test this season as the Lions (2-3) travel to northern Virginia to face the South Lakes Seahawks (1-3).

Lions head coach Jon Meeks said he expects a balanced offensive attack from the South Lakes team, but added that the Seahawks aren’t afraid to launch an air assault.

"Peanut" Johnson, wide receiver for the Louisa Lions, is ready for Friday's match up with South Lakes.

When the two teams faced off in The Jungle last year, the visiting team ran a total of 51 plays. Of those, 29 were passes for a total of 151 yards and all three of their touchdowns.
“We haven’t faced any teams that live and die by the pass this year,” Meeks said. “But we’re going to face some teams that like to throw the ball quite a bit. So, this could be a good test for us.”

The Lions defensive secondary has remained strong this year, having allowed only two passing touchdowns.

But the team will have to protect against the deep ball threat without junior starting defensive back Deion Johnson.

Johnson suffered a mild concussion during last week’s game against Monticello and Meeks said the the junior offensive and defensive starter would not play in Friday’s game.
