The 2012 Christmas season will receive an official welcome in the Town of Mineral on Sunday, Dec. 2 when Christmas trees are lighted, holiday candles are placed in windows and favorite carols are sung. The festivities will begin at 4 p.m. in the sanctuary of the Mineral Historic Foundation headquarters.
The program will feature the Handbell Choir followed by selections from the Mineral Baptist Church choir and the Christmas Story from Luke, narrated by David Whitlock. At the conclusion of the program, activities will move to the new Mineral Town Hall for refreshments.
The lights from the Christmas tree will glow in the window of the Mineral Historic foundation as a reminder to all those who pass by the old historic church that Christmas is a celebration of the birth of Christ and God’s great love for mankind. The tree’s ornaments are once again being dedicated as tributes to past and present special people who have touched the lives of the foundation’s members and friends.
Anyone who would like to designate an ornament to remember or honor someone at Christmas may send a contribution and the names(s) of those for tribute to Jesse Harper, treasurer, Mineral Historic Foundation, P.O. Box 134, Mineral, VA 23117.
All contributions to the Mineral Historic Foundation are tax-deductible.
