Mt. Zion Baptist Church will host The Sensational Five of Amelia in concert at 3 p.m.  The church is  located at 3909 Holly Grove Dr., Bumpass.

 

Laurel Hill Baptist Church will celebrate the  November and December members’ birthdays at 3 p.m.  The celebration will consist of legendary gospel singers such as the Silver Stars, Dorothy Norwood, Mahalia Jackson, F.C. Barnes and Janice Brown portrayed by local gospel singers. The church is located at 7652 Kentucky Springs Rd., Mineral.

 

Sunday, Dec. 16

Memorial Baptist Church will hold its Christmas play “A New Home for Christmas” performed by the members of the church at 6 p.m. First Fruit Ministry will provide lights and sound for the event. Immediately following the performance, light refreshments will be served in the fellowship hall. The church is located at 98 Courthouse Square, Louisa.

Louisa Baptist Church’s adult choir will perform the cantata “Behold the Star” at 11 a.m. It is a Christmas journey from darkness to the Light of Christmas.  Childcare is available for children from birth through kindergarten and a children’s church is available for those through third grade.  The church is located at 305 East Main Street, Louisa.

 

South Anna Baptist Church will present its Christmas program at 7 p.m. followed by refreshments in the social hall.  The church is located at 9071 Cross County Rd., Mineral.

Emmanuel Holiness Church’s youth will present “The Christmas Shoe Tree” at 5 p.m. The church is located at 17904 Jefferson Hwy., Bumpass

 

The congregation of Holly Grove Christian Church will go Christmas caroling in the community at 6 p.m.  A social will follow in the fellowship hall at 7 p.m. The church is located at 1637 Holly Grove Drive, Bumpass.

 

St. John’s Chapel will hold a Candlelight Lesson and Carols Service at 5 p.m. The chapel is located at the intersection of east Green Springs Rd. and East Jack Jouett Rd. in the Green Springs National Landmark Historic District.

 

Louisa United Methodist Church’s Little Fisherman group will have a presentation at 9:30 a.m. followed by the choir’s presentation of its Christmas cantata at 10:30 a.m.  The youth will serve a soup and sandwich luncheon following the performances as a fundraiser for the Wounded Warrior Project.  The UMC Women will have a variety of cookies available for purchase during the luncheon. First Baptist Church will present its annual Christmas drama “No Room at the Inn.”  Sponsored by the Sunday school, the play consists of contemporary and traditional scenes that have a transforming effect upon the characters.  It will inspire all worshippers to make room in their hearts for Jesus, God’s greatest gift to the world.  Following the play, a social hour will be held in the fellowship hall.  The church is located at 102 Meadow Ave., Louisa.

 

Christmas services at Yanceyville Christian Church will be held at 11 a.m.  An evening service will be held at 7 p.m. that includes Christmas caroling, followed by refreshments.  The church is located at 594 Yanceyville Rd. and is a mile from the corner of Yanceyville Rd. (Rt. 646) and Shannon Hill Rd. (Rt. 605).

 

Louisa Christian Church will celebrate the Third Sunday in Advent with its annual youth Christmas pageant during regular worship services at 11 a.m. This year’s play “Where Love Is” is an original production of the Louisa Christian Church Players written and directed by Eleanor and David Perkinson.  The farcical comedy portrays the story of Sarah Connelly, a young woman who is preparing for a very special Christmas visitor.  Miscommunications and a crazy cast of characters foil Sarah’s attempts to welcome her intended guest, but end up bringing her closer to God and an understanding of His love. Arrive early, seating is limited. A  love offering will be collected to benefit the victims of Hurricane Sandy.   A light holiday reception will follow the performance. Mineral Baptist Church will gather for a covered-dish dinner at 5:30 p.m. followed by the children’s program, “Twas the Night After Christmas,” at 6:30 p.m.  The dinner will be held in the Family Life Center and the play will be presented in the sanctuary.  A special guest is also expected to make an appearance. Holly Grove Christian Church will present the Christmas play “His Story” at 7 p.m.  Witness the prophecy of the Old Testament unfold in the simple, yet glorious, birth of Jesus Christ.  The church is located at 1637 Holly Grove Dr., Bumpass.

 

Thursday, Dec. 20

Monday, Dec. 24

Louisa Baptist Church will celebrate Jesus Christ’s birth through worship on Christmas Eve at 6 p.m.  The service will be candlelight and on the topic A Couple of Love from Matthew 1:18-25.  The church is located at 305 East Main St., Louisa.

 

Holly Grove Christian Church will hold a Christmas Eve Candlelight communion service starting at 11 p.m. with the traditional steeple bell ringing at midnight.  The church is located at 1637 Holly Grove Drive, Bumpass.

 

Louisa United Methodist Church will hold two candlelight services on Christmas Eve.  The first will be held at 4 p.m. and the second at 8 p.m.  The church is located at 101 East Main, Louisa.
