Louisa Middle School students bust a move

LCMS student Christian Bridges shows off his dance moves to family and friends during one of the party’s many dance sessions.

Special education teachers from Louisa County Middle School held their first annual Buddy Club Winter Dance for students on Wednesday, Dec. 19. The Buddy Club is a nationwide program with a focus on inspiring positive interactions between special needs students, teachers and other students. More than a dozen students attended the event, which featured pizza, drinks and live music.  The event was organized by LCMS special needs teacher Donna Oesterheld and all of the event’s snacks and entertainment were provided through donations by local businesses.  Pizza Hut of Louisa, Domino’s of Louisa, Joe’s Place Restaurant of Louisa, Food Lion of Louisa and Mineral and Mrs. Pat Furry, assistant manager of Wal-Mart, donated to the dance. “We called them and they all asked what they could do to help,” Oesterheld said.  Oesterheld and other teachers are planning to also host their first Valentine’s formal for students in the spring.
