Despite a disappointing 4-6 season, several Louisa Lion football players have continued to garner recognition for their standout performances during the 2012 regular season.

Louisa County High School seniors Zack Jackson and J.B. Vaughn were recently named to the 2012 All-Central Virginia Football Team, and LCHS junior R.J. Jackson received an honorable mention.

“Things didn’t really work out the way we had planned  this season, but the fact that they were still able to get recognized for their performance on the field says a lot about them,” said Louisa Head Football Coach Jon Meeks, who was named Jefferson District Division 4 Coach of the Year at the end of the season.

Zack Jackson was named to the All-Central Virginia First Team Defense as a defensive back and received an honorable mention for offense.

In early December, Jackson was named to the All-Region II Second Team Defense as a defensive back. In early November, he was named to the All-Jefferson District First Team Offense as a running back and First Team Defense as a defensive back.

J.B. Vaughn was named to the All-Central Virginia First Team Offense as a lineman. In early November, he was also named to the All-Jefferson District First Team Offense as a lineman.

R.J. Jackson received an honorable mention for his role as a defensive lineman and was named to the All-Jefferson District Second Team Defense in November.

While Coach Meeks praised his three players for being recognized for their athletic performances, he also applauded them for their academic success.

“The lowest GPA among the three of them is a 3.9 and the two seniors will graduate with advanced diplomas,” he said. “That says a lot about the kids we have here and their work on and off the field.”
