Saturday, Feb. 16

Mt. Zion Baptist Church will hold a Black History program at 4 p.m. The guest speaker will be Jack Gravely of Petersburg. Gravely is a renowned talk show host and a dynamic speaker. Mt. Hope Baptist Youth Choir will render the music.  A variety of food will be served.  The church is located at 3909 Holly Grove Dr., Bumpass.

 

Philippi Christian Church’s Sunday school worshipers will host  its Black History Program at 3 p.m.  Special guest speakers will include Black Achiever Representatives. Music will be rendered by Faith Redeemers. The church is located on Rt. 33, Mineral.

 

Laurel Hill Baptist Church will provide dinner and a Christian movie starting at 3 p.m. To cover the cost of the dinner a donation of $20 is asked per couple; $5 for children ages three to 12; and children two and younger are free.  The church is located at 7652 Kentucky Springs Road, Mineral.  For more information, contact Sis. Wednesday, Feb. 20

New Line Baptist Church will celebrate the season of  Lent with services each Wednesday, Feb. 13 through March 27 at 7 p.m. New Line and guest preachers participating in order include: The Rev. Matthew Robinson, the Rev. Becky Jackson, Pastor Virginia Farmer, Pastor Henry Truzy, the Rev. Beulah Minor and the Rev. Walter Barrett. Each speaker will be accompanied by guest choirs. Friday, Feb. 22

New Grace, a student choir from Grove City College, will perform at Gilboa Christian Church at 6 p.m.  New Grace is a music ministry committed to serving Christ through song and unity as a body of Christian College students.  The community is invited to a covered dish dinner following the performance.  The church is located at 6780 Jefferson Highway, Mineral.

 

Saturday, Feb. 23

County Line Baptist Church Sunday School will present its Black History program at 6:00 p.m.  Dinner will be served at 4:30 p.m.  The church is located at 4070 County Line Rd., Kents Store.

 

Zion Travelers Baptist Church Women’s Ministry will present its rendition of “Sunday’s Best” at 3 p.m. The guest speaker will be  the Rev. Beulah Minor.  Also featured on the program will be a tribute to Black History and local gospel musical talents. A soul food dinner will follow.  The church is located at 3662 Roundabout Rd., Louisa.

 

Sunday, Feb. 24

Ebenezer Baptist Church will hold a Black History celebration at 3 p.m. on the theme “We’ve Come This Far By Faith.” Guest groups to perform include Favor from New Life Deliverance Tabernacle Church of Richmond; Evergreen Baptist Church Malel Chorus, Fluvanna; the Brooks Family; Keisha Diggs; and Deacon Fleming Shelton. The church is located at 109 Ebenezer Rd., Mineral.

 

St. Thomas Baptist Church will hold its Black History program at 3 p.m. Featured in the program will be portrayers of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., President Barrack Obama, Mahalia Jackson and others. Lunch will be served at 1:15 p.m. The church is located at 1567 Bumpass Rd., Bumpass.
