Lake Anna area businesses combined resources under the guidance of the Lake Anna Business Partnership (LABP) to hold an extraordinary fundraising event Feb. 9 at Lake Anna Winery.

The annual LABP Casino Night drew more than 200 attendees and raised more than $12,000 using a variety of fundraising activities. The Lake Anna “Casino” was popular with the main floor featuring black jack, roulette and craps tables. The newly opened Barrel VIP Room featured two Texas Hold ‘Em tables and black jack. Attendees “gambled” with VIVA Bucks and earned raffle tickets used for a grand prize drawing at the end of the evening.

The Lake Anna Downs was the site of exciting Championship Horse Racing. Four heats of six horses competed and raised $1,800. The Laker’s Mad Dash was a tie between Lake Anna Life Magazine’s Setting The Pace and Joel Kendall’s Life Dash. Louisa Hardware’s TruValue won the Builder’s Blast. The Realtor’s/Restaurant Run was won by Weston Winery’s Wake Up Little Suzy. The Entrepreneur’s Encore was won by Heaven’s Way’s Blessed One.

Also part of the evening was a silent auction offering many items and services from local businesses. From the looks of the generous donation list, it appears lake businesses agree personal reinvestment will help with promotion of tourism and business.
