Authorities are investigating a 'suspicious' fire at K & K Towing, which has been in business in Mineral since 2011.

Authorities are investigating a “suspicious” structure fire that severely damage at least two buildings in Mineral. No one was injured in the fire.

At 2:14 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26, emergency personnel responded to a fire at K & K Towing in Mineral where a racial slur  had been spray painted on the front of the building.

According to Fire Chief Keith Green, volunteer firefighters from Mineral, Louisa and Trevilians responded to the blaze, which was contained within 30 minutes.

The buildings are considered to be at a total loss and “suspicious”  in origin, Green said.

Major Donald Lowe of the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office said that at this time there are no suspects and the investigation may take the course of a hate crime later, but is too early in the investigation to say.

The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office will team with the state fire marshal in the investigation.
