Sunday, Mar. 10

Canaan Soul Saving Station Church will celebrate its Missionary Day at 4 p.m. with Minister Tanya Richardson of Galilee Baptist Church as guest speaker.  The church is located at 6580 Venable Rd., Kents Store.

 

Mt. Hope Baptist Church will hold its Black History Month celebration at 2:30 p.m. with the theme “African American Entrepreneurs Within the Churches and Community.”  Praise will be given to God almighty for the many accomplishments of Africian-American business owners and their inspiring contributions to the community.  The church is located at 5502 Paynes Mill Rd., Bumpass.

 

Laurel Hill Baptist Church will hold its annual missionary program at 3 p.m. The Rev. Loretta Strothers, Thessalonia Baptist Church, Fork Union, will be the preacher. Her choir will render the music. First Baptist Church will host its annual Black History celebration of the Louisa County Chapter, Virginia State University Alumni Association at 3 p.m. The gospel extravaganza will feature performances by Deaconess Marie Trice of Zion Travelers Baptist Church; the Rising Sun Workshop Choir; the Galilee Baptist Celebration Choir; The Duet of Mineral featuring Mr. and Mrs. James Holmes; along with Sister Tammy Shelton Scott and the Ladies of Praise. Added attractions will be performances by The Steppers and Praise Dance Ministries of New Line Baptist Church and reflections from selected members of the alumni association. A soul food dinner will be served at the conclusion of the celebration and all proceeds will benefit the local chapter’s scholarship fund. The church is located at 102 Meadow Ave., Louisa.

Church of the Incarnation will continue with its Lenten study at 7 p.m. This week’s study will look at How then shall we live? Group discussion is part of the format as participants try and understand the transformation that Christianity is undergoing in the community and country, and in many parts of the world today. Join Louisa Baptist Church for a special worship service called One Accord at 11:00 a.m.  This will be the only worship service on this day.  Sunday school will begin at 9:45 a.m. and childcare will be provided during the worship time.  The church is making its sanctuary available to the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of Virginia (CBFV) for its Mission Madness weekend retreat for youth groups across the state. Free Union Gospel Church will hold its spring revival Sunday, March 17 through Tuesday, March 19.  Services on Sunday will be held at 3 p.m. followed by dinner.
