Seemingly more bothered than bewildered, the Louisa girl’s soccer squad dropped their first district game, Thursday, April 11, to the visiting Lady Flucos by a 5-0 score.
Lighting up the board first, Fluvanna jumped in front 1-0 on Kiana Childress’ shot from the right corner with 19:30 remaining in the first period. Multiple shot attempts from the Lady Flucos kept Louisa’s goal keeper literally jumping as the visitors attempted 14 shots in the first 40 minutes of play, connecting on two of them.
“We are a very young team trying to find our way, so we just take advantage of the opportunities when they come along,” Fluvanna Head Coach Kristen Davis said.
Rebounding off of a first attempt at the 37:27 minute mark, Childress’ second goal of the evening gave her squad a 2-0 early lead.
“We lost the mental game tonight. We became very frustrated with ourselves out there,” Louisa Head Coach Kristi Barsby said.
