The Louisa County Industrial Development Authority reinstated its annual Industry Appreciation Picnic last week, holding the event on Thursday, June 13 at the Louisa County Airport/Freeman Field.

The event was not held last year due to construction and repairs to the runway and airport, but the IDA board recognizes the value of the gathering and the importance of bringing business and industry leaders together.

In addition to business and industry leaders, staff of the Louisa County administration offices, board of supervisors representatives, sheriff’s office and emergency services personnel were invited to the event.

“The weather impacted our attendance this year,” said Bill Fosdick, airport manager.  “But, I think those who came had a good time.  We expanded our invitee list this year to include other types of businesses, such as real estate agents and those to the eastern end of the county.  We also included our hangar leases and other airport-related personnel for the first time.”

Essex Bank, Virginia Community Bank and Old Dominion Electric Cooperative partnered with the Louisa Industrial Development Authority to sponsor the event.
