Miss Louisa Ag Fair to reign over this weekend’s festivities

Diamond Ciara Quarles, of Louisa, was selected Miss Louisa Af Fair on Thursday night in the Cooke-Haley Theatre at the Louisa Arts Center.  The 21-year-old George Mason University student was crowned by Leigha Chaney, 2012 Miss Louisa County Af Fair, along with five other young ladies who competed in the various age groups.

Quarles, who is seeking a bachelors degree in health administration and certification as a registered nurse, will represent Louisa County at the 2014 Miss Virginia Association of Fairs Pageant at the Homestead the first week of January when the Virginia Association of Fairs holds its annual conference Jan. 2 – 5.  Her platform focuses on dementia after her grandmother was diagnosed with the disease in 2008.

Other winners of the night were Tiny Miss Stella Jane Gibson, Small Miss Addyson Lynn Herrick, Little Miss Eleanor Noel Pekary, Young Miss Olivia Autumn Grubbs, Teen Miss Victoria Leigh Carpenter.  Pageant-goers enjoyed performances by Green Extreme Cheer and Tumbling’s age 7 and under team and vocals by Brittany Ronquest, an Louisa County High School junior who is also a former Louisa Idol.

The Louisa Agricultural Fair kicked off its annual festivities at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 2 and will continue through Sat., Aug. 3.  Games, entertainment, exhibits and livestock showings are all part of the fun and excitement of the Louisa County Ag Fair, held at the Louisa Firemen’s Fairgrounds accessed by entrances at both Fredericksburg Avenue and Church Street in the town of Louisa.
