Saturday, Aug. 10

By the Grace of God and the faithful giving of church family and friends, Mt. Garland Baptist Church has paid off the church mortgage early and a Mortgage Burning Ceremony will be held at 4 p.m. The message for the evening will be delivered by interim pastor the Rev. Dwain Cosby. Music will be rendered by the Brooks Family. The church is located at 4000 Buckner Rd., Bumpass.

 

Sunday, Aug. 11

St. Thomas Baptist Church will celebrate Homecoming during its worship services. Pastor Sharon Roberts will lead the 11 a.m. service and Pastor H. Tyrone Hilton of Union Baptist Church, Trevilians, will bead the 3 p.m. service. The church is located at 1567 Bumpass Rd., Bumpass.

 

Wayland Baptist Church will celebrate Homecoming during the 11:00 a.m. service. Pastor Frances Lewis will bring the Word followed by lunch from 1:00 until 2:30 p.m. The Rev. Berry Carpenter, of Laurel Hill Baptist Church, his choir and church family will be the guests for the 3:00 p.m. service. The church is located at 1228 Oakland Rd., Louisa.

 

Mineral Baptist Church will celebrate its 111th annual Homecoming with one service beginning at 11 a.m. followed by a covered-dish dinner in the Family Life Center.  Sunday School will be held at 9:45 a.m. The church is located at 51 Louisa Ave., Mineral.

 

South Anna Baptist Church will celebrate its Homecoming during the 11 a.m. worship hour.  The Rev. Mike Nichol will be the guest preacher.  Along with the adult choir, he and his wife will render special music. The church is located at 9071 Cross County Rd., Mineral.

 

Rising Sun Baptist Church will hold Homecoming and revival with Sunday services at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Revival services Sunday through Tuesday will be led by the Rev. Fred Sales, New Destiny Baptist Church, Fredericksburg. Services Wednesday through Friday will be led by Henry Truzy, Thessalonia Baptist Church, Mineral. Nightly service will begin at 7:30 p.m. The church is located at 6829 Fredericks Hall Rd., Mineral.

 

Foster Creek Baptist Church will hold its Homecoming with Pastor Michael R. Crawley Jr., delivering the morning message at 11:30 a.m. followed by lunch. At 3 p.m., the special guest will be the Rev. Roscoe D. Cooper III, of Rising Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Richmond, who will deliver the gospel message. Music will be rendered by a guest choir. The Rev. Cooper will lead the revival services Monday, Aug. 12 through Friday, Aug. 16 with teaching at 7:00 p.m., prayer and praise at 7:30 p.m. and worship at 8:00 p.m. nightly. The church is located at 4028 E. Jack Jouett Rd., Louisa.

 

Mt. Gilliam Old Site Baptist Church will celebrate Homecoming during its 11 a.m. with Pastor Donald King Sr. delivering the morning message followed by lunch.  The afternoon guest will be the Rev. Henry During, pastor of The Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Triangle.  He will be accompanied by his choir and congregation. The church is located at 4641 Chalklevel Rd. Louisa.

 

Zion Baptist Church will celebrate its Homecoming during the 11 a.m. worship service with Pastor Paul Pace,  followed by fellowship dinner. The Rev. Carolyn Payton will be the guest speaker at the 3 p.m. service. First Baptist Church Men’s Chorus, Louisa, will render the music. The church is located on Shannon Hill Rd., Rt. 605, Louisa.

 

Mt. Gilliam New Site Baptist Church will hold Homecoming during its 11:30 a.m. service with Pastor Louisa Collins Jr. delivering the message followed by lunch. The Rev. Lloyd Cosby, Zion Union Baptist Church, Charlottesville, will deliver the 2:30 p.m. message. The church is located at 2212 Mansfield Rd., Mineral.

 

Mt. Hope Baptist Church will hold Homecoming during its 11:00 a.m. service with the Word of God being delivered by Pastor Dr. Monroe L. Smith. The evening service will begin at 2:30 p.m. with prayer and praise followed by worship at 3:00 p.m. The guest revivalist will be the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Grasty and the Zion Grove Baptist Church family, Woodford. The church is located at 5501 Paynes Mill Rd., Bumpass.

Monday, Aug. 12

St. Thomas Baptist Church will hold revival services Monday, Aug. 12 through Wednesday, Aug. 14 with prayer and praise at 7:00 p.m. and worship at 7:30 p.m. nightly. The Rev. Henry Truzy, Thessalonia Baptist Church, will lead in Children’s Night on Monday, the Rev. H. Tyronne Hilton, Union Baptist Church, will lead in Men’s Night on Tuesday and the Rev. Terry Jones, Associate pastor of First Baptist Church, will lead Women’s Night on Wednesday.  The church is located at 1567 Bumpass Rd., Bumpass.

Mark Brown and choir from New Anna Baptist on Tuesday; Minister Shelia Thurston, associate pastor, Peach Grove Baptist and the choir from First Baptist on Wednesday; the Rev. Zion Baptist Church will hold revival services Monday, Aug. 12 through Wednesday, Aug. 14 with prayer and praise at 7:30 a.m. and worship at 8:00 p.m. The Rev. Robert Scarsbougher, of Richmond, will be the guest speaker. Music will be rendered by New Anna Baptist Church on Monday, Vernon Bush on Tuesday, and Philippi Christian Church on Wednesday. The church is located on Shannon Hill Rd., Rt. 605, Louisa.

 

Mt. Gilliam Old Site Baptist Church will hold revival services Monday, Aug. 12 through Friday, Aug. 16 starting with Prayer and Praise at 7:30 p.m. and worship service at 8:00 p.m. The evangelist for the week will be Rev. Dr. Larry Black, pastor of New Salem Zion Baptist Church, Pacolet, South Carolina.  The church is located at 4641 Chalklevel Rd. Louisa.

 

Mt. Gilliam New Site Baptist Church will hold revival services Monday, Aug. 11 through Friday, Aug. 16 with prayer and praise at 7:30 p.m. and worship at 8:00 p.m. The Rev. Lloyd Cosby, Zion Union Baptist Church, Charlottesville, will be the preacher for the week. Various choirs will render music each night.  The church is located at 2212 Mansfield Rd., Mineral.

 

Mt. Hope Baptist Church will hold revival Monday, Aug. 12 through Wednesday, Aug. 14. Guests will include: the Rev. Karl Bray, pastor of United Freedom Gospel Church, and the United Freedom Church Family on Monday; the Rev. Temple Anderson, pastor of Philippi Christian Church and the Philippi Church Family on Tuesday; the Rev. Sunday, Aug. 18

Servants of Christ Baptist Church will host its first Homecoming and revival Sunday, Aug. 18 through Wednesday, Aug. 21.  Evangelist Ken Sparks will be the keynote speaker with special music from Solid Rock.  Sunday School will start at 9 a.m., and worship at 10 a.m.  Monday through Wednesday services will begin at 7 p.m.  There will be no Sunday night service.  For more information, call (434) 589-5741. St. Mark Baptist Church will celebrate its annual Homecoming at 11 a.m. with a message delivered by its pastor, the Rev. Gregory Washington. Sunday afternoon services will be led by the Rev. James Hedgepeth of the North Gayton Baptist Church, Richmond. The church is located at 4596 Factory Mill Rd., Maidens.

 

The youth of Mineral Baptist Church will lead the service, including the music, the sermon and other duties.  Come support the youth as they spread the gospel of Christ through their service. The church is located at 51 Louisa Avenue in the town of Mineral.

 

Trinity Baptist Church will hold its Homecoming at 11 a.m. with guest speaker the Rev. Gerald Chancellor. Chancellor is a native Texan, but a Virginian by choice. He is a graduate of East Texas Baptist University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has served 57 years in the ministry as a pastor, chaplain and teacher. He served 30 years as a chaplain in the U.S. Air Force Reserves.  He retired for the third time in 2010 after serving

seven years as pastor of Elk Creek Baptist Church.  He is now serving interim pastorates, supplying pulpits and teaching Christian Ethics and Christian History as an instructor for Leland Seminary through Goshen Association’s Regional Institute for Theological Education. He is married to Fran and they have five children, 14 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Special music will be rendered by The Henderson’s. Lunch will be provided following the service. The church is located at 135 Mansfield Road, Mineral.

 

Lasley United Methodist Church will hold its Homecoming at 11 a.m. to celebrate 233 years of worship followed by a fellowship luncheon. The Rev. Brian Buckles will be the guest speaker. Ebenezer Baptist Church will celebrate its Homecoming and revival Sunday, Aug. 18 through Wednesday, Aug. 21. The Sunday 11:30 a.m. worship service will be led by Pastor William D. House followed by a fellowship luncheon. The 3:00 p.m. service will be led by the Rev. Charles H. Hillard. He will be accompanied by his congregation of Second New Hope Baptist Church, Fredericksburg. Revival will be held at 7:30 p.m. nightly with the Rev. Hillard as the guest speaker.  The church is located at 864 Pendleton Rd., Mineral.

 

Monday, Aug. 19

St. Mark Baptist Church will hold revival Monday, Aug. 10 through Thursday, Aug. 22 with prayer and praise services at 7:30 p.m. and worship at 8:00 p.m. nightly. The dress code for the revival services is church casual wear. The Rev. Michael Black, pastor of the Westwood Baptist Church, Richmond, will be the evangelist for Monday and Tuesday. The Rev. Darren Brandon, pastor of the Little Zion Baptist Church, Carson, will be the evangelist for Wednesday and Thursday. The church is located at 4596 Factory Mill Rd., Maidens.
