Sunday, 

Aug. 18

Servants of Christ Baptist Church will host its first Homecoming and revival Sunday, Aug. 18 through Wednesday, Aug. 21.  Evangelist Ken Sparks will be the keynote speaker with special music from Solid Rock.  Sunday School will start at 9 a.m., and worship at 10 a.m.  Monday through Wednesday services will begin at 7 p.m.  There will be no Sunday night service.  For more information, call (434) 589-5741. St. Mark Baptist Church will celebrate its annual Homecoming at 11 a.m. with a message delivered by its pastor, the Rev. Gregory Washington. Sunday afternoon services will be led by the Rev. James Hedgepeth of the North Gayton Baptist Church, Richmond. The church is located at 4596 Factory Mill Rd., Maidens.

 

The youth of Mineral Baptist Church will lead the service, including the music, the sermon and other duties. Come support the youth as they spread the gospel of Christ through their service. The church is located at 51 Louisa Avenue in the town of Mineral.

 

Trinity Baptist Church will hold its Homecoming at 11 a.m. with guest speaker the Rev. Gerald Chancellor who is a native Texan, but a Virginian by choice. He is a graduate of East Texas Baptist University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has served 57 years in the ministry as a pastor, chaplain and teacher. He served 30 years as a chaplain in the U.S. Air Force Reserves.  He retired for the third time in 2010 after serving seven years as pastor of Elk Creek Baptist Church.  He is now serving interim pastorates, supplying pulpits and teaching Christian Ethics and Christian History as an instructor for Leland Seminary through Goshen Association’s Regional Institute for Theological Education. Married to Fran, they have five children, 14 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Special music will be rendered by The Henderson’s. Lunch will be provided following the service. Lasley United Methodist Church will hold its Homecoming at 11 a.m. to celebrate 233 years of worship followed by a fellowship luncheon. The Rev. Brian Buckles will be the guest speaker. Ebenezer Baptist Church will celebrate its Homecoming and revival Sunday, Aug. 18 through Wednesday, Aug. 21. The Sunday 11:30 a.m. worship service will be led by Pastor William D. House followed by a fellowship luncheon. The 3:00 p.m. service will be led by the Rev. Charles H. Hillard. He will be accompanied by his congregation of Second New Hope Baptist Church, Fredericksburg. Revival will be held at 7:30 p.m. nightly with the Rev. Union Baptist Church will celebrate its annual homecoming service at 3 p.m. The guest pastor will be Arthur Greene of Swift Ford Baptist Church, Madison, who will be accompanied by his choir, ushers and church family. The regular morning service will start at 11 a.m. The church is located at 1546 Vawter Corner Rd., Louisa.

 

Pleasant Plain Baptist Church will hold its Homecoming with the Rev. Harold Solomon bringing the Word at 11:30 a.m. followed by lunch. Dr. Yvonne Jones-Bibb, of Richmond, will bring the Word at 3:00 p.m. The church is located at 675 Lindsay Rd., Gordonsville.

 

Laurel Hill Baptist Church will hold its Homecoming Celebration and revival services beginning with the 11:00 a.m. devotional service.  The worship service will follow with the Rev. Barry Carpenter delivering the Word of God.  The Rev. Harrison Williams, pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church, Standardville, will deliver the 3:00 p.m. message. His choir will render the music. The church is located at 7652 Kentucky Springs Rd., Mineral.

 

First Baptist Church will celebrate its annual Homecoming service at 11:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.  Pastor Bruce Jones will bring the morning message, with music by the senior choir. Lunch will be served immediately following morning worship. The afternoon service will feature Superintendent Larry C. Miles, pastor of Fresh Anointing Cathedral (Church of God in Christ) of Richmond. He will be accompanied by his choir and church family. The church is located at 102 Meadow Ave., Louisa.

 

Monday, Aug. 19

St. Mark Baptist Church will hold revival Monday, Aug. 10 through Thursday, Aug. 22 with prayer and praise services at 7:30 p.m. and worship at 8:00 p.m. nightly. The dress code for the revival services is church casual wear. The Rev. Michael Black, pastor of the Westwood Baptist Church, Richmond, will be the evangelist for Monday and Tuesday. The Rev. Darren Brandon, pastor of the Little Zion Baptist Church, Carson, will be the evangelist for Wednesday and Thursday. The church is located at 4596 Factory Mill Rd., Maidens.

Spurlock, pastor of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Sterling, and chairman of the board of trustees at the Children’s Home of Virginia Baptists in Richmond. Various choirs will render the music. Wednesday, Aug. 21

Union Baptist Church will hold a three night revival Wednesday, Aug. 21 through Friday, Aug. 23 at 7:30 p.m.nightly. Guest speakers will include Pastor Temple Anderson of Phillippi Christian Church, Mineral, on Wednesday; Pastor Truzy of Thessalonians Baptist Church, Mineral, on Thursday; and Pastor Victor Harrison, Redeem Apostylic, Fredericksburg, on Friday. Each pastor will be accompanied with his choir, ushers and church family. The church is located at 1546 Vawter Corner Rd., Louisa.

 

Saturday, Aug. 24

Kingdom United Ministries will be host a youth summit entitled “Empowering a Generation” from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.  In this season, the enemy desires to defeat youth with thoughts of suicide, addiction and the lack of discipline. This summit is designed to encourage youth with the Word of God. The youth will enjoy a day of fun, food and fellowship, along with the powerful Word of God and prayer. Shady Grove Baptist Church will celebrate its ushers 78th anniversary at 3 p.m. The special guest will be Men on a Mission gospel singers and the Shady Grove Men’s Chorus. The church is located at 3384 Oakland Church Rd., Gum Spring.

 

New Anna Baptist Church will hold an appreciation service at 2 p.m. recognizing Clarice Brown, Nannie Bates, Jeanette Smith, Thelma Green and Rosa Brown. The Rev. Terry Jones, First Baptist Church in Louisa, will preach and the Brooks Family Singers will render the music. The program theme will be Recognition of Love. New Line Baptist Church will celebrate Homecoming during its morning service at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor J.R. Coney preaching followed by lunch.  The afternoon service will begin with prayer and praise at 2:30 p.m. with guest preacher, the Rev. Henry Truzy, pastor of Thessalonians Baptist Church, Mineral. He will be accompanied by his choir and ushers. The church is located at 4876 New Line Rd., Gum Spring.

 

Monday, Aug. 26

New Line Baptist Church will hold revival services Monday, Aug. 26 through Friday, Aug. 30 starting at 7:30 nightly. The revivalist will be the Rev.
