Sunday, Sept. 22

Shady Grove Baptist Church will celebrate its ushers’ 78th anniversary at 3 p.m. The special guest will be Men on a Mission gospel singers and the Shady Grove Men’s Chorus. The church is located at 3384 Oakland Church Rd., Gum Spring.

 

Mechanicsville Baptist Church will welcome guest speaker, Dr. John Upton, executive director of the Baptist General Association of Virginia and president of the Virginia Baptist Mission Board, and president of the Baptist World Alliance, during a combined worship service at 11 a.m.  He will share information about the Alma Hunt Virginia State Missions Offering ministries.  The church is located at 10200 Louisa Rd., Gordonsville.

Eagle Baptist Church will celebrate the Rev. Roger E. Braxton Sr.’s third anniversary. Morning worship will be at 11 a.m. followed by lunch. The Rev. William Mallory of Shiloh Baptist Church, Palmyra, will be the guest speaker at 3 p.m. He will be accompanied by his choir, ushers and congregation. The church is located at 4682 Mt. Standing on The Promises of God Church will celebrate the 21st anniversary of its pastor, Larry L. Holt Sr. Morning service will begin at 11 a.m. followed by lunch at 2 p.m.  The afternoon service will begin at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Jaimal Hayes, pastor of Abner Baptist Church, Glen Allen, as the guest preacher. Macedonia United Methodist Church will celebrate its annual homecoming service during its 11 a.m. worship service.  The new minister, the Rev. Stephen M. Philippi Christian Church Usher Board will host a musical program at 3 p.m. The church is located at 7133 Jefferson Hwy., (Rt 33), Mineral.

 

Wayland Baptist Church will welcome Elder Larry Winningham of New Bethel Christian Fellowship, Richmond, as its guest speaker for the 11 a.m. worship service. The church is located at 1228 Oakland Rd., Louisa.

 

Saturday, Sept. 28

Mineral Baptist Church will host the Sounds of Liberty in two performances, one on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. and again on Sunday, Sept. 29 during the joint service at 11 a.m.  The Sounds of Liberty is the premier traveling music ministry of Liberty University in Lynchburg.  The 11-member group features five vocalists, a five-piece band and a sound technician, many of whom are Liberty University students who perform over 100 concerts a year.

The Saturday performance will be held in the Family Life Center. A love offering will be taken.

On Sunday morning, there will be just one worship service at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary with the Sounds of Liberty bringing the message.  The day is also High Attendance Sunday for the Sunday School department and a covered-dish dinner will be held on the playing fields behind the Family Life Center following the worship service.

Sunday, Sept. 29

Canaan Soul Saving Station Church will welcome the Rev. Frances Lewis of Louisa as guest speaker at the 11:30 a.m. worship service. Music will be rendered by The Christ Crusaders.  The church is located at 6580 Venable Rd., Kents Store.

 

Mt. Hope Baptist Church Celebration Choir will celebrate its first anniversary at 3:00 p.m. recognizing and honoring gospel legends and pioneers of music such as The Gospel Tones, The Coles Sisters, The Shelton Five and the Bubba Johnson and The Omega Singers.   Guests appearing will include Mt. Zion, Union Baptist, Mt. Olivet, Rising Sun Baptist Church and Brother James Lanier. The church is located at 5501 Paynes Mill Rd., Bumpass.

 

Rising Sun Baptist Church will celebrate its Family and Friends Day with guest speaker the Rev. William House II of Ebenezer Baptist Church during the 11 a.m. worship service. The church is located at 6829 Fredericks Hall Rd., Mineral.
