Preschool Storytime is held at the Louisa County Public Library each Thursday at 10:30 a.m.  The program is designed for children ages 3 through 5 and includes a fun time of stories, songs, flannel boards and learning.

The Department of Veteran Affairs, Native American/Rural Community Mobile Clinic will hold physical exams and VA Healthcare enrollment from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at New Life Community Church, 509 E. Book-to-Screen Film Series is held at Louisa Public Library at 3:45 p.m. Stop by after school for an awesome film based on a popular book. Popcorn and drinks will be served.  Movies are rated PG-13.

Saturday, April 20

The Jouett Elementary School Parent/Teacher Association, (PTA), will host a spring market from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. featuring housewares, crafts, baked goods and farm/garden items. The PTA will also sell lunch and host a children’s garden craft booth. Vendor applications will be accepted until April 15. Vendor application fees are $20/booth or $15 for non-profit groups. Vendor setup opens at 7:30 a.m.

A Louisa County blood drive will be conducted  by the American Red Cross, assisted  by the Sacred Hearts Council of the Knights of Columbus, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall of St. Jude Catholic Church, 1937 Davis Highway, halfway between Louisa and Mineral on Rt. 22.  Contact Larry Fridley at (540) 894-8375 or mail landkfridley@gmail.com to make an appointment.  Drop-ins welcome.

Creation Day Adventure will be held at Buckner-Bumpass Park, 300 Bumpass Rd., Bumpass, from 9:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Kids in kindergarten through fifth grade should bring a water bottle, towel, good walking shoes and pencil for an outdoor nature adventure. The cost is $7 per person and includes lunch. RSVP required at (804) 338-0656 or (540) 872-2484. A part of the proceeds will benefit Jouett Elementary School’s Good News Club.

The Belmont Ruritan’s annual plant, bake and yard sale will be held from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Belmont Community Center, 7124 Belmont Rd., Mineral. Table space available for $20. Contact Lin Kogle at (540) 894-0239.

The Men’s Group at Macedonia United Methodist Church will host an all-you-can-eat pancake  dinner from 5 until 7 p.m. The church is located two miles north of I-64 at 17 Byrd Mill Rd., Louisa. Pancakes with a variety of toppings, sausage, coffee, milk or orange juice and desserts will be served. Donations accepted at the door and proceeds will benefit the church’s community missions.

A. Wilson Greene, executive director, Pamplin Military Park and expert on Gen. George Stoneman’s Raid, will present facts on this lessor-known event in Civil War history in Louisa.  This free event is sponsored by the Louisa County Historical Society and will be held at the Louisa Arts Center, 214 Fredericksburg Ave., Louisa.  For more information, call (540) 967-5975.

The Tuesday Evening Book Club will meet at the Louisa County Public Library at 7 p.m. to discuss House of Mirth by Edith Wharton.

Wednesday, April 24

The Louisa Courthouse Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will present the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution Historic Preservation Recognition Award to the W.A. Cooke Foundation for the preservation of the Cooke Building during a reception starting at 2 p.m. The public is encouraged to attend.

Louisa VA Tea Party will meet at 7 p.m. at the Louisa County Public Library for a presentation from Act For America with information about the common core K-12 curriculum and the longitudinal data systems.
