      The Louisa Virginia Tea Party monthly meeting will be held at the Louisa County Public Library at 7 p.m.  with special guest Ken Paterson who will discuss “The Goochland County Turnaround.” This event is non-partisan, free of charge and open to the public.

      Small Country Campground will host the TristenFest Music Festival Aug. 29 and Aug. 30 to benefit St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Tickets are $10 each. For more information, call (540) 967-2431.

    2. Outdoor movie night
      8:00 pm – 11:30 pm

      Fork Baptist Church, 14357 Jefferson Highway, Bumpass, will hold outside movie night featuring “Courageous.” The movie is open to everyone and free.  Bring a chair or a blanket.  The grounds will be open at 8 p.m. and the movie starts at sunset.  Free popcorn.  Hot dogs and drinks will be available at reasonable prices.

    1. Salt herring breakfast
      7:00 am – 10:30 am

      Lake Anna Rescue, Inc. will hold a salt herring breakfast, for donations only, from 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. The menu will consist of salt herring, bacon, sausage, eggs (cooked to your liking), homemade biscuits, sausage gravy, potatoes and beverages.     1. Chamber Business Breakfast Meeting
      7:45 am – 9:00 am

      The Louisa County Chamber of Commerce will feature Pam Matthews, manager of the adult day care center at Jefferson Area Board for Aging, located at the Betty Queen Intergenerational Center, for its business breakfast meeting. Matthews will discuss the services offered to Louisa’s older community. The meeting will be held from 7:45 until 9:00 a.m. To attend, call (540) 967-0944 or email to make a reservation.

      Baby Time is held at the Louisa County Public Library each Thrusday at 10:20 a.m.  The program is designed for children ages 2 and younger.

      Preschool Storytime is held at the Louisa County Public Library each Thursday at 10:30 a.m.  The program is designed for children ages 3  through 5 and includes fun time of stories, songs, flannel boards and learning.

      The Commission on Aging will hold its regular monthly meeting at 10 a.m. in the Betty J. Queen Intergenerational Center conference room. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

    2. Do What You Want Craft Group
      3:00 pm – 4:00 pm

      Do What You Want Craft Group meets  at the Louisa Public Library at 3 p.m. Do you knit, bead, make rugs, hand stitch or do any kind of handicraft?  Come join us to share ideas, show off your work and get another crafter’s eye and perception.  Chat and meet your neighbors while you work on your craft.  Bring any project you’re working on, or come just to be inspired. All ages and levels of experience welcome. Call or visit the library for details.

    1. Fish fry
      11:00 am – 4:00 pm

      True Apostolic Church of Christ will hold a fish fry featuring fish, corn bread, choice of two sides including potato salad, string beans and coleslaw, desert and beverage. Dinners will be available from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at $9 each. Orders may be placed by calling (301 639-8460. The church is located at 6831 Fredericks Hall Rd., Mineral. Proceeds will benefit the church’s building fund.
