    1. Louisa school bus involved in Thursday morning crash
      9:45 am – 10:45 am

A Louisa County Public School bus was involved in a four-vehicle crash on Jefferson Highway (Rt. 33), just west of Windy Knight Road, on the eastern end of Louisa County on Thursday, Oct. 9.

According to Trooper K. S. Patrick,  a 1999 Chevrolet pickup being driven by Charles A. Cone, 76, of Tennessee, was traveling east on Route 33 at about 9:10 a.m. when it came over crest of a hill where traffic had stopped for tree work being performed in the area.  The pickup went into the stopped westbound lane and struck a 2007 Thomas school bus, a 2005 Dodge pickup and a 1991 Chevrolet pickup.

The school bus was stopped in the travel lane and the two pickups were parked on the right side of the road.  The lanes had been properly marked with cones by the tree trimming company and personnel were directing traffic at the time of the accident, according to Patrick.

Cone, who was wearing a seat belt, was charged with reckless driving. The school bus was not loaded with students. There were no injuries in the crash.
