    1. Ruritan BBQ chicken dinner
      4:00 pm – 6:30 pm

      The Louisa County Ruritan Club will hold its semi-annual barbecued chicken dinner with pick up between 4:00 and 6:30 p.m. at the Mineral Volunteer Fire Department.  Dinners are $8 each and include one-half chicken, baked beans, potato salad, roll and dessert. Tickets are available by calling James Duerson at (540) 894-4985, emailing or from any Louisa Ruritan member.  The Louisa Boy Scout Troop 3 and Mineral Boy Scout Troop 183 are also selling tickets and will receive a portion of each ticket they sell.

      8:00 am – 1:00 pm

      Gum Spring United Methodist Church, 35 Church Lane, Gum Spring, will hold a yard sale from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. Breakfast will be available. The church is located at 35 Church Lane, Gum Spring.

    2. Justis Bratt in concert
      4:30 pm – 6:00 pm

      Fourteen-year-old Justis Bratt will be in concert at 4:30 p.m. at the Louisa Arts Center, 212 Fredericksburg Av., Louisa, for “No More Bullying.” Her music is aimed at her peers offering uplifting messages to help youth find positive solutions and social changes. Tickets are $7 for students.

    1. Chili cook-off
      5:00 pm – 7:00 pm

      A chili cook-off will be held at Ebenezer Methodist Church, 3092 Oakland Rd., Louisa, at 5 p.m. Bring chili to be judged or come and enjoy fun and fellowship. Chili dinner will follow the judging. For more information, call Susan Fletcher at (540) 967-1407.

      Baby Time is held at the Louisa County Public Library each Thrusday at 10:20 a.m.  The program is designed for children ages 2 and younger.

      Preschool Storytime is held at the Louisa County Public Library each Thursday at 10:30 a.m.  The program is designed for children ages 3  through 5 and includes fun time of stories, songs, flannel boards and learning.

      The Commission on Aging will hold its regular monthly meeting at 10 a.m. in the Betty J. Queen Intergenerational Center conference room. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

    2. Do What You Want Craft Group
      3:00 pm – 4:00 pm

      Do What You Want Craft Group meets  at the Louisa Public Library at 3 p.m. Do you knit, bead, make rugs, hand stitch or do any kind of handicraft?  Come join us to share ideas, show off your work and get another crafter’s eye and perception.  Chat and meet your neighbors while you work on your craft.  Bring any project you’re working on, or come just to be inspired. All ages and levels of experience welcome. Call or visit the library for details.

      Lake Anna Rescue, Inc. will hold a salt herring breakfast, for donations only, from 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. The menu will consist of salt herring, bacon, sausage, eggs (cooked to your liking), homemade biscuits, sausage gravy, potatoes and beverages.
