New leadership at St. James Episcopal

With great thanksgiving and joy, St. James Episcopal Church announces the appointment of the Rev. Charles Alexander Riffee as rector. Father Alex, a West Virginia native, is a graduate of the Berkeley Divinity School at Yale University. He has served as associate rector at St. James’s Episcopal Church in Richmond for three years.     Holly Grove Volunteer Firefighters answered an unusual call on Monday, Jan. 27, when a miniature Appaloosa horse named Oz found himself lying on his back and wedged between two buildings. The rescue crew poses for a picture with a grateful new friend after the rescue.  Submitted photo

    When Debbie Smith went out to feed her horses on Monday, Jan. 27 she realized that her 10-month-old Appaloosa miniature horse, Oz, was nowhere to be found. “He always follows me,” Smith said.     The Gum Spring United Methodist Youth Group is having a Lasagna Dinner at 5 PM on October 13 at the church.   • Trunk or Treat at Gum Spring UMC
