One of the largest annual events in Louisa County is the Mineral Bluegrass Festival, held the third weekend in July. The three-day extravaganza of bluegrass draws thousands. The event also serves as a fundraiser for the Mineral Volunteer Fire Department.
The park, located at 528 Louisa Ave., is named for Elizabeth Trice Walton, who donated the land to the town. Louisa County High School students have conducted a major renovation of the stage in recent years, using reclaimed wood from a collapsed barn on the property. The rustic looks of the new batten board stage design helps Louisa County’s most famous venue blend seamlessly into the wooded park landscape.
