Mechanicsville Baptist Church will host the women’s conference “A Heart for Worship,” with guest speaker Sharon Sands, of Passionate Heart Ministries on Friday, April 25 from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 26 from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.  The cost for the conference is $25 and includes a snack Friday night, a continental breakfast and lunch on Saturday. Saturday, April 26

Shady Grove Baptist Church will hold the initial sermon of Deacon Gerald Duncan at 3 p.m. The church is located at 3384 Oakland Church Rd., Gum Spring.


Standing on the Promises of God Church, will celebrate its annual Deacons and Trustees Day at 3 p.m. under the theme “Working For The Kingdom.” The celebration will include songs, skits, mime, praise dancers and our own Marvin Shelton and the Standing on the Promises of God choir. Rising Sun Baptist Church will present the gospel state play “Man at a Crossroad,” written and produced by Linda Adams Porter, at 4 p.m. The Rev. Fred Sales is the lead cast member. The church is located on Rt. 618, Mineral.


The Laurel Hill Baptist Church will celebrate the 10th anniversary of its pastor, the Rev. Barry Carpenter, at 4 p.m. with a banquet at the Holiday Inn Express, 750 Round Hill Drive, Orange, on Saturday, April 26. Worship services on Sunday, April 27 will conclude the celebration with guest speaker the Rev. Terence Johnson, associate pastor, White Oak Run Baptist Church, Rapidan, during the 11 a.m. service.  The Rev. St. Thomas Baptist Church’s Deaconess Ministry will host the Women’s Prayer Breakfast at 9 a.m. The guest speaker will be Pastor Elect, the Rev. Dwain Cosby of Mt. Garland Baptist Church. Philippi Christian Church’s Usher Board will host “12 Steps to the Kingdom”  at 3 p.m. The church is located at 7133 Jefferson Highway, Mineral.


Sunday, April 27

Postponed: Union Baptist Church will host the Imani Ensemble Choir of Baltimore, Maryland, in concert at 3 p.m. The church is located at 1546 Vawter Corner Rd., Louisa.


Wayland Baptist Church will welcome the Rev. Faye Cooper-Baldwin, of Quioccasin Baptist Church, Henrico, as guest speaker for 11 a.m. worship service.  The church is located at 1228 Oakland Rd., Louisa.


The Sanctuary Choir of Ebenezer Baptist Church will celebrate its 73rd anniversary at 3 p.m. Various groups will be on the program. The church is located at 846 Pendleton Rd., Mineral.


Mt. Hope Baptist Church will hold its family and friends day “Let us Come Together-Our Family, Our Friends and Our Neighbors” at 2:30 p.m. Musical guests will include The Coles Family, The Gospel Tones, Marie Trice, recording artist John Fox, Minister Shelia Thurston, the Rev. Karl Bray and the United Freedom Gospel Church Choir and Mt. Hope Mass Choir. The church is located at 5502 Paynes Mill Rd., Bumpass.


Sunday, May 4

Shady Grove Baptist Church Senior Ministry will present “Fellowship Gathering of Songs” at 3 p.m. Music will be rendered by The Friendship Cafe of Senior Connections of Goochland under the direction of Denise Lee. Light refreshments will be served in the G.M. Thompson Fellowship Hall. The church is located at 3384 Oakland Church Rd., Gum Spring.


Louisa Baptist Church will begin another sermon series, “Unlikely Heroes,” that will complete on May 25.  The series will focus on a particular character from the Bible, including Jonathan, Ester, Jonah and Mark.  Contemporary service is held at 8:30 a.m. followed by Sunday school at 9:45 a.m. and the morning concludes with traditional worship at 11:00 a.m.  Childcare is available at both services.  The church is located at 305 E. Main St.; Louisa.


Zion Travelers Baptist Church will celebrate the fifth anniversary of its pastor, Austin G. Bates. Pastor Bates will bring the morning message followed by lunch. Bishop Raymond McKenzie, Gravel Hill Baptist Church, Varina, will bring the 3 p.m. message. Union Baptist Workshop Choir will render the music. The church is located at 3662 Roundabout Rd., Louisa.


Divine Baptist Church will celebrate family and friends day at 3 p.m. The guests for the service will be the Rev. Arthur Lee II, his choir, ushers and congregation from Rising Sun Baptist Church, Louisa. The service is sponsored by Sadie Price and Mary Holland. The church is located at 11933 Shannon Hill Rd., Louisa.


Wednesday, May 7

Springfield Baptist Church will hold its annual spring revival May 7 through May 9. Prayer and praise will begin at 7:30 p.m. followed by worship at 8:00 p.m. Guest ministers include Minister Stephone Coleman, Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Columbia, on Wednesday; Minister Leon Harris, Burning Bush Christian Church, Palmyra, on Thursday; Friday night: Minister Stevie Trent, Second Union Baptist Church, Goochland, on Friday.    Each minister will be accompanied by the church choir.  The church is located at 1042 Zion Road, Gordonsville.
