Sunday, Feb. 10

Wayland Baptist Church will celebrate Black History Month with a lecture from Dr. Boykin Sanders, professor of New Testament and Greek at Virginia Union University School of Theology, Richmond, and Dr. Ajai Saunders, a natural nutrition expert. Minister Annie Holland and Dr. Saunders will show slides of their recent trip to Ghana, West Africa and Ethiopia. The event will take place at 2:30 p.m. and lunch will be served prior to the presentation from 1:00 until 2:15 p.m.  The church is located at 1228 Oakland Rd., Louisa.


Louisa Baptist Church will begin a new sermon series on the Gospel of John.  This sermon series will walk through seven of Jesus’s miracles such as the miracle movement, over nature, sight and life.  Contemporary worship begins at 8:30 a.m. and traditional service begins at 11:00 a.m.  Childcare is provided at both services for children through kindergarten and during the traditional service there is a children’s church for first through third grade.  Sunday school begins at 9:45 a.m.  The church is located at 305 E. Main Street, Louisa.


Thessalonia Baptist Church will present the “Lord Lift Us Up Where We Belong” concert at 3 p.m. The church is located at 278 Old County Rd., Mineral.


Wednesday, Feb. 13

Mt. Zion Baptist Church will hold its Ash Wednesday service at 7 p.m. The Rev. Dr. Patrick Jones, pastor of Bethany Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker.  He will be accompanied by his choir, ushers and congregation.  The church is located at 3909 Holly Grove Dr., Bumpass.


New Line Baptist Church will celebrate the season of  Lent with services each Wednesday, Feb. 13 through March 27 at 7 p.m. New Line and guest preachers participating in order include: Pastor J. R. Coney, the Rev. Matthew Robinson, the Rev. Becky Jackson, Pastor Virginia Farmer, Pastor Henry Truzy, the Rev. Beulah Minor and the Rev. Walter Barrett.
