Wayland Baptist Church will welcome the Rev. Sharon Williams, of Mount Zion First African Baptist Church, Charlottesville, as guest speaker for the 11 a.m. worship service. The church is located at 1228 Oakland Rd., Louisa.
Bethpage Christian Church will hold a Southern Gospel Sunday featuring “His Way,” a group Pastor Wade Stanley previously performed with, during the 11 a.m. worship service. Bethany Christian Church has added an additional worship service to its Sunday morning worship. The 8:15 service will be a “traditional worship” service. It will offer a more formal setting with hymns, a Christ-centered message and a consistent structure. The 10:30 service will be a “elevate worship” service. The approach for this service will be more casual, with the Praise Band leading with contemporary praise songs. A nursery and junior church for children ages 3 through 5 will be available during the 10:30 a.m. service. Steve Comer, Elk Creek Baptist Church music director, will present An Afternoon of Classics and Gospel at 4 p.m. The concert is Comer’s gift of appreciation for the support and assistance shown to him and his family following a fire in their recreational vehicle over the Memorial Day weekend 2012 which left the family of four with severe burns. Bethany Christian Church will hold “Bethany Bible Challenge” nights on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. during January and February. Using the format of classic shows such as Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, participants can experience the fellowship of a Bible study combined with the fun of competition. The women of Louisa Baptist Church have begun a new study “If You’re Going to Walk on Water” by John Ortberg. Ortberg teaches how to step out of the “boat” of casual Christianity to faithfully follow the Lord who is calling believers out onto the risky, exciting waters of the high seas. Begin the evening with dinner at 5:45 p.m followed by Bible study at 6:30 p.m. There are classes for toddlers and up, including adults, and childcare for the infants as well. New Life Community Church will host the movie “My Hope America,” by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, at 6 p.m. There will also be a time of testimonies and questions and answers. Childcare will be provided. The church is located at 509 E. Main St., Louisa.
