Friday, Sept. 21

Rising Sun Baptist Church will host a Women’s Ministry Retreat at 7 p.m.  Guest speakers will include Pastor Sharon Roberts, St. Thomas Baptist Church, Bumpass and the Rev. Dr. Deborah Sams, First Baptist Church, Richmond.  A BBQ-style dinner will be served from 5 until 7 p.m.  The church is located on Rt. 618, Mineral.


Saturday, Sept. 22

Wayland Baptist Church will celebrate its Friends and Family Day on Saturday, Sept. 22 starting at 10 a.m. with guest Pastor Washington, of The Bridge Ministry, Charlottesville, and Sunday, Sept. 23 starting at 11 a.m. with guest the Rev. Hilton of Union Baptist Church and his church family.  Food, family, fun and a car show. The church is located at 1228 Oakland Rd., Louisa.


Laurel Hill Baptist Church will host “An Afternoon of Songs and Praise” featuring The Sons of Praise of Richmond, St. Thomas Male Chorus of Bumpass, Joyful Unity, Temple of Deliverance COGIC of Mineral, and the Potters’ Clay of Laurel Hill Baptist Church at 4 p.m.  The church is located at 7652 Kentucky Springs Road, Mineral.  For additional information, contact Bro. Standing on The Promises of God Church will celebrate the 20th anniversary of Pastor Larry L. Holt Sr. at 3 p.m. The Rev. Roscoe D. Cooper III, pastor of Rising Mt. Thessalonia Baptist Church will ordain the Rev. Henry K. Truzy Jr.  at 3 p.m. The guest preacher will be Pastor Arthur Lee of the Rising Sun Baptist Church accompanied by choir, ushers and congregation.  Dinner will be served immediately following the service.  The church is located at 278 Old Cross County Road, Mineral.


Sunday, Sept. 23

Free Union Gospel Church will hold a gospel music service at 3 p.m. featuring Cheryl and Maggie Ingram who are part of the Family of Praise Community Choir. The church is located at 10378 Louisa Rd., Gordonsville.


Sharon Christian Church will celebrate its 125th anniversary and Homecoming at 11 a.m. The service’s topic will be “Generational Faith.” As a part of the celebration, the church will rededicate the gifts given the church over the years and honor the many families and individuals in whose honor they have been given. Special guest for the day will be the Rev. Lee Parker, regional minister of the Christian Churches (DOC) in Virginia. The morning service will be followed by a luncheon and discussion on Sharon’s history and a sharing of memories lead by Mabel Harris Nelson. The church is located at 852 Bumpass Road, Bumpass. St. Thomas Baptist Church will celebrate its annual Women’s Day with its pastor, the Rev. Sharon Roberts at 11 a.m. followed by lunch. The Rev. Ruth Morris, associate minister of Shady Grove Baptist Church will be the guest preacher for the 2:30 p.m. service.  Music will be rendered by the Ebenezer Baptist Church Sanctuary Choir, Mineral.  The church is located at 1567 Bumpass Rd., Bumpass.


Macedonia United Methodist Church will hold its annual Homecoming at 11 a.m.  Pastor Linda E. F. Crabbs will be delivering the morning message at the worship service.  The church choir will provid special music for the worship service under the direction of “Bucky” Chishom, choir director.  Lunch will be served immediately following the worship service in the church social hall. The church is located at the intersection of Byrd Mill and East Jack Jouett Roads near Bells Crossroads in Louisa County.


The First Baptist Church Missionaries will observe its 92nd anniversary as part of the regular worship service at 10:45 a.m. Serving as guest speaker will be Wanda L. Childs, a native of Louisa and daughter of First Baptist Church now residing in Maryland. In addition to being a motivational speaker, she is also an author, mentor and entrepreneur. At the conclusion of the service, she will host a book signing in the fellowship hall of the church located at 102 Meadow Ave., Louisa.


Mt. Hope Baptist Church family will celebrate the 21st anniversary of its pastor and first lady, the Rev. Dr. Monroe and Jean Smith at 2:30 p.m.   The Rev. Jamial Hayes and the Abner Baptist Church family of Glen Allen, will be the special guests. The church is located at 5501 Paynes Mill Rd., Bumpass.


Eagle Baptist Church will celebrate the second anniversary of its pastor, the Rev. Roger E. Braxton Sr. at 3 p.m.  The guest preacher will be the Rev. Dr. W.T. Carter, pastor of St. James Church, Beaverdam.  He will be accompanied by his choir, ushers and congregation.  The church is located at 4682 Mt. Airy Rd., Louisa.


Sunday, Sept. 30

The Rev. Kimberly Fortune of Galilee Baptist Church will be the guest speaker at Canaan Soul Saving Station Church at 11:30 a.m.  Music will be rendered by The Christ Crusaders.  The church is located at 6580 Venable Rd., Kents Store.


The Louisa County Sunday School Union will worship with Zion Travelers Baptist Church at 10 a.m. followed by lunch. The church is located at 3662 Roundabout Rd. Louisa.
