Holiday wreath making
Dec 7 @ 10:00 am – 1:00 pm

Learn to make a door wreath from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Sargeant Museum’s Michie House. The class will show aprticipants how to make a wreat from natural greenery trimmed with holiday-themed ribbon and decorations you provide. A 12-inch straw frame, florist pins and boxwood, as well as other greens, will be provided. Participants need to bring clippers, work gloves, a small hammer (optional) and any adornments such as ribbon (3 yards minimum for a bow). Bring a bag lunch/drink.  Class size is limited to eight participants. The cost is $25 and each participant will take home a completed wreath.

Preschool Read & Rhyme Time is a fun program highlighting early literacy skills. Enjoy short books, rhymes, finger plays, a flannel story, and songs using shakers and rhythm instruments each Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Designed for ages 2 through 5 with an accompanying adult or caregiver. Siblings welcome. The Louisa County Library is located at 881 Davis Hwy., Mineral.

Servants Of Christ Baptist Church

Servants Of Christ Baptist Church will be hold its annual holiday Ladies Night Out at 6:30 p.m. featuring a guest speaker. Bring a friend(s) for lots of fellowship with refreshments, games, door prizes, a silent auction and raffle. The church is located at 60 Sommerfield Dr., Zion Crossroads, Rt. 15N.

The Golden Age Club, open to all Louisa County seniors age 55 or older, will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. at the IHOP Restaurant, 137 Wood Ridge Terrace, Zion Crossroads. If attending,  call the Louisa County Parks, Recreation and Tourism office at (540) 967-4420 before 10 a.m. on December 8 to reserve a place.

Heritage Farm “Winter Traditions on the Frontier”

Spend Family Day at the Heritage Farm “Winter Traditions on the Frontier” at the Sargeant Museum, 214 Fredericksburg Ave., Louisa, for a hands-on history with learning and fun for all ages! Winter on an 18th Century farm provided time for cozy family gatherings and holiday traditions by the fireplace.  Learn about the various cultural influences and homemade gifts.  Activities include making paper ornaments, rag dolls and open hearth cooking. This is a free program from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Louisa Alzheimer’s Support Group

The Louisa Alzheimer’s Support Group is available for caregivers, family, and friends of someone afflicted with Alzheimer’s or any of the many other dementias.  Let us share our experiences with you and provide information to help you traverse the disease. Meetings are held the second Monday of the month from 1:00-2:30 p.m. at Betty Queen Center, 522 Industrial Drive, Louisa. If the local public schools are closed due to weather or holiday the meeting is cancelled. For more information, contact Jane Unbehagen, group facilitator, at (540) 872-2394.

The Tween Scene: STEAM will investigate a pop-up MakerSpace for ages 9-15 with the theme “Hour of Code” at Louisa County Library at 4 p.m. A take-home starter kit will be provided.The library is located at 881 Davis Hwy., Mineral.

Snacks and drinks will be provided and participants will receive volunteer hours for participation. For grades 6 through 12. Registration requested.
