Mineral Volunteer Fire Department’s grand parade

The Mineral Volunteer Fire Department’s grand parade will step down Mineral Avenue Friday, April 28 at 6:30 p.m. featuring fire and rescue apparatus, marching units, beauty queens, antique and modern vehicles and business entries and floats. Be sure to visit the carnival following the parade.

The town of Mineral will hold its Beautification Festival on Louisa Avenue in Mineral from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Information on  education, conservation, stewardship and recycling with an array of plants, shrubs and trees, outdoor furniture and gardening crafts to shop from. Louisa County Heritage Day celebration

The fourth annual Louisa County Heritage Day celebration will be held on the grounds of the Sargeant Museum from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Dozens of skilled crafsmen from Central Virginian will perform their trades with the tools that were used in the early 19th Century. Musical entertainment, rain or shine.

Barbecue Throwdown (Cookoff)
Apr 29 @ 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm

The third annual Barbecue Throwdown (Cookoff) will be held from 3 until 5 p.m. at the Betty J. Queen Intergenerational Center, 522 Industrial Drive, Louisa. County Supervisor Fitzgerald Barnes will provide a pig on a platter and there will be a cookoff challenge for side dishes and desserts. Fun, food and live music. There will be a door prize drawing for a 20”  HD television; must be present to win. All proceeds will benefit the Louisa Community Emergency Fund (LCEF), Touching Lives in Crisis, an emergency assistance non-profit fund for Louisa County residents. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door. For tickets, call Lin Kogle at (540) 894-0239.

A benefit concert for Tiffany Smith will be held at Trinity Baptist Church, 135 Mansfield Road, Mineral, who lost everything due to a house fire. Local performers will take the stage from 1 until 5 p.m.

Moose Lodge bingo

Louisa Moose Lodge, 349 School Bus Road, Louisa, holds bingo each Sunday. Doors open at noon, games begin at 2 p.m.

Lake Anna Sunset Concert Series
