Business Bursts educational series

The Louisa County Chamber of Commerce will offer its summer/fall Business Bursts educational series at the Louisa County Library, 881 Davis Highway, Mineral. Course offerings include: Virginia SWaM Certification at 1 p.m., Tell Your Story – Effective Communication at 3 p.m. Registration is required. The Louisa County Band Boosters will hold a Brunswick stew fundraising event.  Contact Kenny at (804) 883-6582 or email at KLPCWP@Embarqmail.com by Sept. 29 to pre-order.  The cost is $8 per quart.

Fish dinners

Lake Anna Rescue, Inc., 300 Bumpass Rd., will offer its fish dinners from 4 until 7 p.m. Menu consists of baked/fried fish or shrimp with choice of two sides including mac and cheese, baked potato, French fries, or coleslaw for $8. Dine in or carry out. Call Chuck at (540) 872-3471 or (540) 872-5274 to pre-order.

Bingo fundraiser

The youth of Mineral Baptist Church will hold a bingo fundraiser in the Family Life Center. Doors will open at 5:00 p.m. and games will begin at 6:30 p.m. Pork barbecue dinners will be available for $8 a plate. Other menu items include barbecue sandwiches and hot dogs, snacks and drinks. Game prizes include purchases, gift cards and gift baskets, as well as a Chinese auction and 50/50 raffle. Proceeds will be used for youth activities and trips throughout the year and the mission trip next summer.

Gum Spring United Methodist Church offers free coffee and donuts the first Thursday of the month from 6:30 until 8:30 a.m. A drive through service is available to get you on your way. The church is located at 191 Cross County Rd., Gum Spring.

Preschool Read & Rhyme Time

Preschool Read & Rhyme Time is a fun program highlighting early literacy skills. Enjoy short books, rhymes, finger plays, a flannel story, and songs using shakers and rhythm instruments each Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Designed for ages 2 through 5 with an accompanying adult or caregiver. Siblings welcome. The Louisa County Library is located at 881 Davis Hwy., Mineral.
