Golden Age Club

The Golden Age Club, open to all Louisa County seniors age 55 or older, will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. at Roma Italian Restaurant, 406 East Main St., Louisa. Please call the Parks, Recreation and Tourism office at 540-967-4420 before 10 a.m. on September 22 to reserve a place.

Herbal vinegars & butters

The Louisa Herb Guild will present Herbal Vinegars & Butters from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Louisa County Administration Building, 1 Woolfolk Ave., Louisa. Learn about the benefits of herbal vinegars and herbs while enjoying light snacks. Make your choice of herbal vinegars and herbal butter taking home two decorative glass bottles of herbal vinegar and a sample of butter. Decorative labels and finishes for your bottles as well as herbs are included. Participants may bring additional bottles and different vinegars to make more, if desired. The fee is $10 a person. Bingo for Books

Bingo for Books will be held at Louisa County Library from 1:30 until 3:30 p.m. Do you love playing bingo? Join us for a fun afternoon of gaming for books. Ages 8 to adult. The library is located at 881 Davis Hwy., Mineral.

Community fun day

Huntington Community Fellowship Church of the Nazarene will hold its community fun day from 2 until 6 p.m. Activities for all ages including bounceables, obstacle course, yard games, food, children’s activities, local fire and EMS displays and the sheriff’s office will conduct a child car seat safety check and provide child identification kits. The church is located at 147 Shortmans Rd., Mineral.

Dedication and unveiling ceremony

A dedication and unveiling ceremony of the Bumpass Historical Marker at the intersection of Rts. 601 and 701 will be held at 2 p.m. Parking and shuttle will be available at Sharon Christian Church, 852 Bumpass Rd., Bumpass. The church will host a reception following the ceremony.

Piedmont Virginia Community College will host “Getting Started,” an information session for prospective students that will introduce degree and certificate programs, as well as provide information about placement tests, student services and other resources to help students get started at PVCC. The workshop will be held at Louisa county Library, 881 Davis Hwy., Mineral from 6 until 7 p.m.

The Tuesday Evening Book Discussion Group will meet at Louisa County Library, 881 Davis Hwy., Mineral, at 7 p.m. to discuss : “Hillbilly Elegy” by J. D. Vance. The story is about the author’s family and upbringing, describing how they moved from poverty to an upwardly mobile clan that included the author, a Yale Law School graduate, while navigating the demands of middle class life and the collective demons of the past.
