Spring bake sale

The women of Louisa United Methodist Church will hold their annual spring bake sale from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. featuring bread, cookies, cakes and pies. Chicken salad will also be for sale. The church is located at 101 E. Main Street, Louisa.

Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “The Sound of Music”

Music Theater Ensemble will present Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “The Sound of Music” on Friday, May 5 and Saturday, May 6 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, May 7 at 3 p.m. in the Alan Jackson Theatre at LCHS. Reserved seating is $15, general admission is $10. Tickets are available at LCHS (540) 894-5436 and Fabric Hut and Gift Gallery (540) 967-1630.

Salt Herring Breakfast
May 6 @ 7:00 am – 10:00 am

Lake Anna Rescue, Inc., 300 Bumpass Road, Bumpass,  will hold a salt herring breakfast from 7 until 10 a.m. for $8 per plate. Menu consists of choice of salt herring, sausage, or bacon, choice of pancakes, biscuits with gravy, potatoes, eggs to order.

Bake sale and flea market

The women of Gum Spring United Methodist Church will hold a community vendor/bake sale/flea market from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. A rain date is scheduled for Saturday, May 13. The church is located at 191 Cross County Road, Gum Spring.

Blood Drive
May 6 @ 8:30 am – 1:30 pm

The American Red Cross, assisted  by the Sacred Hearts Council of the Knights of Columbus, will hold a blood drive from 8:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall of St. Jude Catholic Church, 1937 Davis Highway, Mineral. Car Show and Fish Fry

Zion Crossroads Volunteer Fire Department, 400 Poindexter Road, Louisa, will hold its eighth annual car show and fish fry from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Raffles and trophies for car show winners. Show registration is $12. Fish dinners are $10, other items will be available. Visit www.ZCVFD.org for more information or future events. All proceeds will benefit the  ZCVFD.

Lake Anna Business Partnership will host its eighth annual spring festival, Lakefest, in the parking lot of Food Lion at 11010 Kentucky Springs Road, Mineral, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Will the Stones Whisper Their Names project

Will the Stones Whisper Their Names project will be held at St. Mark Baptist Church from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. The project is an endeavor of the Louisa County Historical Society to locate, identify, document and protect public, church, family – home and private – as well as unmarked or unidentified African American grave sites in the county. Louisa County Library will hold its third annual Louisa Comic Con from 10:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Participate in workshops, raffles, costume contests, crafts, see special guests, artwork, get a free comic book and pose in the photo booth. The library is located at 881 Davis Highway, Mineral.

Community Extravaganza

The annual Community Extravaganza, promoting the spirit, body and soul, will be held at 11 a.m. at the Betty J. Queen Intergenerational Center. It will feature a talent show, basketball tournament, musical entertainment, youth activities, bingo, car show, health care and wellness information and screenings, free food, prizes and fun for all ages.
