Belmont ham and oyster dinner

The Belmont Ruritan Club will hold its annual ham and oyster dinner from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Belmont Community Center, 7124 Belmont Road, Mineral. Tickets are $16 for adults and $8.50 for children. Ruritan BBQ chicken dinners

The Louisa County Ruritan Club will hold its semi-annual barbecued chicken dinner fundraiser at the Mineral Fire Department. The meal consists of one-half chicken, baked beans, potato salad, roll and dessert for $9 a plate and are carry-out only. Pick-up will be between 4:00 and 6:30 p.m. To reserve dinners, call James at (540) 894-4985 or email the number of dinners desired to fourlucks@yahoo.com. Pre-ordering is recommended as there will be a limited number of dinners available the day of the fundraiser.

The Tuesday Evening Book Discussion Group will meet at Louisa County Library, 881 Davis Highway, Mineral, at 7 p.m. to discuss “Carry On: A Story of Resilience, Redemption, and an Unlikely Family,” by Lisa Fenn. An Emmy-winning ESPN producer describes how she developed a surprising, profound and lasting bond with two disabled African-American, inner-city high school wrestlers after filming a segment about them for television.
