The Golden Age Club will meet at 11:30 a.m. for lunch at Tim’s at Lake Anna Restaurant and Crab House, 200 Boardwalk Way, Mineral (off Rt. 522, before the bridge). Lake Anna Rescue, Inc., 300 Bumpass Road, Bumpass, will hold a fish dinner from 4 until 7 p.m. for $8 per plate. Menu consists of baked or fried fish or shrimp platter, choice of two sides mac and cheese, baked potato, french fries, coleslaw, dessert and drink. Dine in or carry out. Mineral Volunteer Fire Department’s grand parade

The Mineral Volunteer Fire Department’s grand parade will step down Mineral Avenue Friday, April 28 at 6:30 p.m. featuring fire and rescue apparatus, marching units, beauty queens, antique and modern vehicles and business entries and floats. Be sure to visit the carnival following the parade.

Louisa County Heritage Day celebration

The fourth annual Louisa County Heritage Day celebration will be held on the grounds of the Sargeant Museum from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Dozens of skilled crafsmen from Central Virginian will perform their trades with the tools that were used in the early 19th Century. Musical entertainment, rain or shine.

Barbecue Throwdown (Cookoff)

The third annual Barbecue Throwdown (Cookoff) will be held from 3 until 5 p.m. at the Betty J. Queen Intergenerational Center, 522 Industrial Drive, Louisa. County Supervisor Fitzgerald Barnes will provide a pig on a platter and there will be a cookoff challenge for side dishes and desserts. Fun, food and live music. There will be a door prize drawing for a 20”  HD television; must be present to win. All proceeds will benefit the Louisa Community Emergency Fund (LCEF), Touching Lives in Crisis, an emergency assistance non-profit fund for Louisa County residents.
