Tuesday Evening Book Discussion Group

The Tuesday Evening Book Discussion Group will meet at 7 p.m. to discuss “Deep Down Dark” by Hector Tobar at the Louisa County Library, 881 Davis Highway, Mineral. The Pulitzer Prize-winning author presents a firsthand, official account of the 2010 survival story involving 33 miners who were trapped for a record 69 days in a Chilean mine.

Preschool Read & Rhyme Time

Preschool Read & Rhyme Time is a fun program highlighting early literacy skills. Enjoy short books, rhymes, finger plays, a flannel story, and song and movement, using shakers, scarves, and rhythm instruments each Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Designed for ages 2 through 5 with an accompanying adult or caregiver. Quit Smoking Louisa

Quit Smoking Louisa is a free support group where people can learn and experience different strategies for quitting smoking. Classes are free and will be held on Thursdays from 5 until 6 p.m. at the Betty J. Queen Center, 522 Industrial Drive, Louisa, though May 26.

Fish dinner

Lake Anna Rescue, Inc., 300 Bumpass Road, Bumpass, will sell fish dinners from 4:00 until 7:30 p.m. Menu consisted of baked or fried fish, shrimp, or chicken with two sides, beverage and dessert for $8. Sides: include mac and cheese, baked potato, French fries and coleslaw. Dine in or carry out.

Yard sale

Lake Anna Rescue, Inc., 300 bumpass Road, Bumpass, will hold a yard sale from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. which will include quilted and homemade items, purses, casserole cariers, toys, baby items, clothing, house hold items and baked goods. Beautification Festival

CVMG trees workshop

Central Virginia Master Gardeners will hold a trees workshop from 9:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the Louisa County Library, 881 Davis Highway, Mineral. The workshop will teach how to recognize and evaluate hazardous trees in the home landscape and a discussion of a “new” disease called bacterial leaf scorch. Youth speak forum

Nothing But the Word Ministry will sponsor a youth speak forum (ages 12-20) on Keeping it 100 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Betty J. Queen Intergenerational Center. Free admission and lunch.
